"This dish is inspired by the heritage of Nyonya (Peranakan/Malacca Straits born Chinese) cooking. Wild barramundi is cooked with a sambal sauce, served on a bed of long beans and okra. Prawns option available on request.

Sambal is a sweet/spicy sauce made from an exotic fusion of onions, garlic, lemon grass, turmeric, galangal, shallot, pungent shrimp paste, candle nuts, palm sugar and tamarind juice.

Nonya cooking is the fusion of Straits born Chinese cooking with various distinct spices and cooking techniques used by the Malay/Indonesian community. This gives rise to Nyonya interpretations of Malay/Indonesian food that is tangy, aromatic and spicy."

Taxiboat (03) 9482 7882 is a Northcote "neighbourhood gem".

Business has been very good. The menu is now adapted to be more customisable. So come and try our 'Red Curry Chicken' or 'Basil Chicken'.

See you soon.

Nice words Jim

The more any restaurant depends on the owner's day in, day out involvement in the operational details of the restaurant, the greater the risk of failure.
