I commented on Dawson Bethrick's blog at

Good blog Dawson:

Duncan Ferguson > "I don't see an effective argument that states that the subject of consciousness is necessarily material"

Organic consciousness stemming from action of complex brains and nervous systems is just a material as exchanges of quarks via gauge bosons. When we ignore holistic fallacies alleged to be explanations of animal consciousness, and instead reductively drill down to the cellular and molecular scales, we find only non-quantum material phenomena. If there's a ghost in the machine, we can't find it. Thus claims that human or animal consciousness comes from a ghost is just as indistinguishable from fantasy as are claims about "gods" or "super-nature".
