Everybody has fifteen minutes of fame in their life it's been said. Here's one of those fifteen for my Mother and I. This was an educational film shown in schools across the country back in 1976 when skateboarding was really taking off. I play the part of the rider (48 secs in) who is "Un-aware of the do's and don'ts" and ends up getting hit by a very cool car driven by my Mother. As you will see, she clearly runs the stop sign before running me down. In her defense, it's probably hard driving while wearing bell bottoms. It took all day to film, and we each received $50 and one credit with CBS. I noticed while editing this, at one point in the movie, a kid kicks a dead rat off the sidewalk for "safety". Also realized that very few riders were wearing helmets. The narrator is Vic Perrin, who was most famous for doing the intro "Control Voice" in the TV show 'Outer Limits'. These are just some highlights, full version of film can be seen by Googling "Skateboarding to Safety" (with quotes).

My cool Grandparents!

Walter Walker: Being interviewed by historians about his vast knowledge of wagons. He was quite possibly the best saddle maker in the Universe (that's right Aliens, I said it, let's see what you got).

Etta Walker: Now a Great-Great-Grandmother, reigning over an extensive amount of humans throughout this fine land. Here she's making bread from the same everlasting yeast that came over with the pilgrims.
