Iconic market with butchers, delicatessens & other vendors, plus local produce & specialty products.- Google
"High quality food and the best cheese shop."
"Definitely smaller than Jean Talon, but sometimes just more convenient."

Have to give a rating to publish review, so only giving it a 1, and wanted to make others aware of Google's incorrect days/hours schedule. We would have loved to visit this market, and it was on our itinerary for a day trip to Montreal. However, after riding the subway from Old Montreal, we arrived here to only find that it was closed, both Jan 1st AND Jan 2nd - Google maps showed that there might be different hours for New Year's Day, so we had incorrectly expected it to be open on the 2nd. Disappointing, but we found a lovely little grocer across the street, and grabbed various breads, cheeses, meats, and fruits for a delicious 'picnic' meal in our vehicle before our long drive home. Had we checked the market's website, there is a pop up window (in French, which can't be translated because it is a pop-up), which I believe states they would be closed Jan 1st & 2nd. Our next visit, we will be sure to check the market's website prior to planning our visit.

My favourite all-purpose food market on the island. Great atmosphere and a lot of choice. It is even better in the summer with food stalls. Also if you would like to take a lovely stroll, you can walk along the Lachine Canal, which is just a few steps away.

Great market visit as a tourist. We got along pretty well with the locals and enjoyed nice fresh bread and cheese. Also took home a year supply of their delicious maple sirup and will be visiting soon to replenish the supply.

Love this market! Its a foodie paradise with produce and gourmet products. I want to move to Montreal to be near it. The cheese shops rock. Premiere Moisson is a fantastic Bakery. We gorged on croissants and pastries. They even sell the flour the use to make their delicious baked goods. Go there for food shopping or for lunch. You will not regret it.

Great market and alternative to Jean-Talon for those on this side of the city. I heard that Atwater has more local fruits and produce than Jean Talon Market. Regardless, both are great places to visit. Summer is best, but it runs in the wintertime as well.

A food-lover's delight, Atwater Market has something for everyone (especially those who love meats and cheeses!). This market really reflects Montrealers' love of cuisine, with multiple butcher shops, patisseries, cheese shops, produce stands, etc. etc. etc. Every city should have a wonderful market like this.

Fascinating to walk through or around. Plenty of unusual and imported goods, as well as local produce. Prices can vary greatly, but the local produce is very reasonable. Good place to buy high-end cheese.

Tons of fresh food here. We had some great coffee and fresh pastries, and looked at all of the delicious meats as well.
