Using a family house cleaning schedule can help make sure certain chores don’t fall through the cracks. For the days when Molly Maid doesn't come to clean, those heavily trafficked areas of the home, like the kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, and living room, still need to be cleaned, washed, and/or picked-up. Our kid chore charts are a perfect start to outlining a family cleaning schedule – adults can use them, too: http://www.mollymaid.com/kids-chore-chart.aspx #cleaningtips   #chorechart

How to care for and clean your wooden cutting board.

Care for your board:
Cutting boards need seasoning much like cast iron skillets.  Many people use mineral oil to seal the wood, however, you should consider using coconut oil instead.  Coconut oil is a great choice because you can purchase it refined so it won’t have a smell or taste, it has a long shelf life (approximately two years), and it has antibacterial properties.
Pour a small amount of coconut oil on your board and rub it in with your hands.  Be sure to do both sides of the board.  Wipe off any excess with a dry cloth.  Repeat this process on a monthly basis.

Cleaning your board:
Scrub your cutting board after every use with soap and hot water.  Do not soak your board in water.  Rinse and then allow it to air dry.
Use white vinegar to disinfect the board.  Wipe on with a paper towel or keep a spray bottle of white vinegar handy in the kitchen.
For removing odors from your board, you can use one of the following ingredients: coarse salt, lemon or baking soda.  Rub the board with one of these ingredients, let it stand for two to three minutes, and then wipe off the surface.  Rinse and dry the board.
