I read Jon Ronson's "The Psychopath Test" a while ago. This is scary shit: the utter disconnection from remorse and other negative emotions is frightening to read about. As the article says, it's not a formative diagnosis--it doesn't help you get treatment because there is no effective treatment for it. So is it right to diagnose psychopathy in children whose cognition will change in adolescence? My heart goes out to the parents, and the bind they're in.
