The customer service was terrible. A 24 year old Alaskan asked for a water and the bartender confiscated her identification. He threatened to call the police, but did not, after we told him to call the police. After a 20 minute argument with him we got the ID back. They had no respect for her or myself when I argued the situation. The service from the bartender ruined the experience for all of us. I would not recommend this bar to anyone.

The bartender thought my Alaska ID was a fake because it "didn't have the state seal on it," despite all the tell-tale signs that it is valid--hologram reading "Alaska" and the state flag all over it, micro writing, ghost picture, etc. There is no law saying a state seal needs to be present on the license, and what if the state seal is on the Nebraska license because that IS the state flag? I assumed a bartender would be better trained in spotting IDs.

What we expected to be a dive bar is actually a very nice and fun bar. The only downside is the bar is basically split into thirds, but it makes the bar feel small and personable

The bartender confiscated an id after a friend of mine asked for a water. She has a license from Alaska. She is turning 25 in a month. They threatened to call the cops and we said to do it. He would not and eventually gave us the perfectly legal license back after a long argument. Overall it seemed like a great bar, but the bartender ruined the experience

Really rude bartender. Make sure you look like you fit in otherwise they mix a 2/3s full weak drink...

Jake's is as eclectic as they come. The diversity of clientele is vast, beer and cigar selection awesome, and it can be debated to have one of the best bloody mary's in town. It is a melting pot of every walk of life. Go with friends or start talking to total strangers. Either way you will feel comfortable and welcome.
