Time for another addition to the fantastic dragon list! And in celebration of Boxing Day's mega movie release here in Australia, the dragon of choice is none other than Smaug the Magnificent!

"My armour is like tenfold shields, my teeth are swords, my claws spears, the shock of my tail is a thunderbolt, my wings a hurricane, and my breath death!" - Smaug

Smaug is one of the last great dragons of Middle-Earth - a winged fire-drake from the north, who decimated the town of Dale and captured Erebor - driving the dwarves from their mountain home. Smaug is the primary antagonist in the story The Hobbit, and is not only incredibly strong, but has an incredibly sharp mind, too.

"It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him."

It's been a while since the last fantastic dragon update. So here's a dragon a lot of us will know. Eustace Scrubb, from the Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Well, he's not technically a dragon, but Eustace gets more than he bargained for when he greedily rummages through that dragon treasure! Eustace starts off as such a brat, but I really love watching/ reading the change in his attitude and character, due to his temporary body transformation.

I do believe it's about time for some more fantastic dragons! Today's pick is the cheerful and charming luckdragon, Falkor - from Michael Ende's The Neverending Story.
While not gifted with strength, speed, or magical abilities, one thing Falkor and his kin can boast about is their incredible LUCK! Would you like having Falkor as a friend? Would you take a ride on his back? Unlike winged dragons, luckdragons 'swim' through the sky, constantly taking in heat and air through their scales. I wonder what that would feel like?
