Labor Day morning harvest. Even the Yuengling Lager could be described as homegrown as the original brewery is located 17 miles away.

Anybody care to question the ability of this handyman ?
Hard enough to get two wires under one screw. He did it four times. Not to mention the box fill overload of all this copper in a 1 7/8" plastic octagon box. Jezzz.

Yes 4 set screws on the plastic fixture, each with 2 wires under each screw. {Even thought its a NEC violation think how hard that is to do}. Not to mention a monster box fill violation, as it was 1 7/8" PVC octagon box. Needless to say a hot lead worked loose with time and blinking lights became the norm. Also 2 three way switches were added to the lighting circuit. But the trunk slammer added a stranded cable so a homemade 12/3 Romex hybrid was formed.
Since I was rewiring a dryer move somehow the elderly homeowner thought I made a wiring mistake, even though this is was present for months according to her son. {Oh yea, I was working on the other side of this ranch house}.

Luckily this was all above a suspended ceiling so moving a ton of tile allowed me to work this puzzle.
A deep metal 4×4 box and Romex connectors made this train wreck a proper JB.

Happy days are here again. Last nights modest harvest, first of the year. Both varieties are destined for tonights pasta salad.

Accidental sunflower patch. Seeds that dropped out of the feeder conveniently took root filling in ivy that February's brutal cold ruined. Not that you can keep ivy at bay very long. But a nice change of pace for the alleyway.

"Arrowheads" {the fly tier) supply of 2014 Penn's Creek Green Drakes. {With a Union County Sportsman's Club button} tossed in the picture for good measure.

Wednesdays harvest. Those early September highs ~{85° F} have my plants making up a lot of ground for sure.

Hard to pick out but in the lower left hand of the photo is the first praying mantis spotted thus season. He must be a youngin as a very green color helps him blend in with the better boy tomato plant.

These guys show up in the yard sometimes. Must be careful with the rotary mower.

The warm weather {~81°F} and weekly thunderstorms have the strobiles coming along nicely.

The last 24 hours the strobiles have started to appear on all the vines. Thursday's afternoon thunderstorms provided a much need watering.

Fourth of July. The hops are growing like gangbusters. A weekly rain soaking and above average temperatures must do the trick !
