Terribly over rated. If you want great food in a similar style go to Smoking Bettie's down near Jefferson. This place is for "kids" to come get drunk, socialize and enjoy food that fits the occasion. I wouldn't come back with so many other better options close by. We ordered the Rouge Burger and the Soft Crab both dishes were mediocre at best. If you want a good burger go to Monk or Smoking Bettie's roughly half the cost and twice as delicious.

A petit cozy restaurant, took my girlfriend out here for a nice dinner. A bit crowded, because the place is physically small, but still a comfortable place. A little loud, but an active environment. Great service, made reservations, was immediately seated, our jackets we checked by our waitress. You are in close quarters with the other dining patrons, but I didn't feel claustrophobic. Food was brought out fairly quickly after ordering. My girlfriend had the steak and fries, while I had the pork loin. I tried some of hers, it was cooked appropriately and tasted delicious. My pork loin was very satisfying as well. Very good portion size, and the meat was juicy and tender. We decided to order dessert, I had the pumpkin crem brulee, which was average. It was cold, which means it was probably not recently prepared, the taste was what I expected, but i wish it had been creamier, and less pumpkin-pie like texture. (I'm a big crem brulee fan). But I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an intimate dinner for 2, or for a small group of 3-4 close friends.

On a cold windy night, we found our way in Rouge on Rittenhouse Square. Having walked by this place many times, I was never really impressed with their front, but inside, the atmosphere is warm and cozy. The first dish that was served up was the French onion soup with gruyere and provolone. I didn't have this, but word is it was good. I had the King Salmon - a nicely cooked filet of salmon laid on top of a mixture of kale and red quinoa. The salmon was delicious, but the kale and quinoa were mediocre at best with little to no flavor. I asked for the dish without the honey-mustard sauce since I'm not a fan of mustard, so that may had altered the intended flavor profile. I did ask if they could substitue the mustard sauce with something else, but was basically told there wasn't a substitute. I had a bite of the Seafood Risotto, which tasted fresh and flavorful, unlike my kale. We also shared the truffle parmesan pommes frites - come on, you know nothing with truffle oil can go wrong. For dessert, we had the olive oil lemon cake served with vanilla gelato and cherry (?) spread. We didn't taste much of the vanilla in the vanilla gelato, but this only made the flavor of the olive oil lemon cake stand out even more. We also had the ice cream sliders - two of which were light and delightful, the third one (peanut butter) was the unwanted third wheel with no contrast in flavor and heavy to the palate. Overall, the food was great; however, there were a couple misses. First, we each had a small plate and a butter knife, but no one brought out any bread. After the French onion soup was served, we had to flag down one of the waiters to bring over the bread. Second, the outer layer of the risotto came out cold, and needed to be mixed up to distribute the inner heat out. Third, it would had been great if the kitchen tossed the fries and truffle parmesan first, rather than just sprinkling the parmesan on top (which means by the time you get to the fries at the bottom, they're just plain old fries). So, no big mistakes that can't easily be fixed. In the words of a terminator, I'll be back.

We went their for lunch. Cozy, loungy place with good atmosphere. We had the lamb burger and truffled fries. The lamb burger was hardly seasoned and the toppings were boring as well. The fries were very nice. The truffled fries were delicious on the top but the truffle oil didn't make it beyond the first layer. Probably a good place for afternoon GT but would not go there for the food unless someone tells me that I just picked the wrong dishes that day.

Was at Rouge today with a friend. We got 2 cappuccinos and where charged $10.80. Mind you the cappuccinos cost $4 each. So the total should have been $8.84. Not only did she overcharge us but she said that they round up the price to be $1.20 more, making the total $12 for 2 cappuccinos. Totally unheard of. She never gave us a receipt either. Be careful you don't get played like we did. Really disappointed!!!!!!

The chocolate chip bread pudding was good, but not great. I had to send the first dish back because it was burnt. The second dish was much softer, but I am very particular about my bread pudding, so I was not in love. It was a very generous portion and the service was excellent-maybe too good-I lost count of how many different staff members came by to check on me. I will definitely return to try other dishes on the menu, and it is on my list for bread pudding places in the city.

We got take out burgers and went to Rittenhouse Square across the street. Food was really good. But the vibe of the place was definitely not family friendly. If you have small kids, call ahead for take out and eat a picnic style meal in the square. The burgers are worth the fuss.

Tuna tartare app was great. Went a bit downhill from there. My wife is lactose intolerant and ordered a sausage, peppers and pasta dish without the parmigiana. It was really bland. We were hoping they would have thought to turn up the other spices to make up for the lack of flavorful parmigiana (our test for the versatility of a chef), but it was so bland she had to send it back. Once it returned with some spices and garlic, it was much better, although by then the pasta was a bit overdone. I ordered the strip steak and upgraded the frites to the truffle version. They gave me a TON of fries...which normally would be great, however they weren't kidding with the "truffle" part of the fries. Most restaurants that have anything "truffle" on the menu completely overdo the truffle oil, and this was no exception. Luckily I do really like truffle, but they were not well balanced. Finally, the steak was topped with an herb butter in a red wine sauce. Neither the steak, the butter, nor the sauce were anything special, and combined they were no better. The herb butter was very delicate. Too delicate to hold up to even the bland steak. I don't know if it was seasoned at all. It was just boring, despite the fact that it was cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested. The red wine sauce was boring as well and very one-noted, although it did have a nice thickness. So in the end, we had a great app, and very unbalanced main courses.
