While the Frolic Room has never been a destination for me, there's no reason why it shouldn't be... My only 2 times coming here were on nights when I attended musicals at the Pantages next door. It's an intimate enough spot to meet before going in to the theatre... but here's the best part: and perhaps I'm ruining the secret - this is the place to come during intermission! The lines are shorter, the drinks are cheaper, and you get prompt service... and the line for the bathroom is considerably more manageable. I hope I didn't ruin it for next time. Still looking for Nina... I'm sure she's there... but I'm always in and out so quickly, I never get to linger and find her.

Moving right along from the Red Lion Tavern.......we had some time to kill before the show at the Pantages. My better half looked Frolic Room up on yelp and t is conveniently located next to the theater. We are talking stumbling distance. I ordered a Maker's Mark Manhattan. The total for the two of them came to $17.00. I was shocked at the price. I was thinking I would be paying Hollywood prices. The Frolic Room is not very large, but when one is frolicking, does the room need to be large? It was packed, but still comfortable. The lighting was good enough that you could recognize the cougars from the kittens, but not bright enough to blind you. There are a few places to sit. We sat at a small bar on the other side of the room. It was comfortable and we could hear each other talk. You could purchase music from the juke box on the wall. If you are in the area and want a buzz before going to the Pantages, check out the Frolic Room.

If you don't fancy much of LA buzz and you look for an unassuming, straight, friendly bar with excellent music choices then that's your place. With reasonable prices and an interesting crowd.

Bro, let's grab a brew at Frolic Room. You know, that tiny, crowded joint on 10th Avenue. No, there won't be any chicks there, man. It's always a total sausage fest. Who cares! It's just us, some good convoy, and some craft brews. You know how we love craft brews, bro.

Historic and legendary Hollywood dive-bar turned hip - and it's been like this for decades, even when this neighborhood was run down. I've never been a regular here, but it's always a comfortable hang. Recommended especially when you're in the area after a play, concert or other event. A fun place to bring visitors when taking them through Hollywood since it's the real deal. Charles Bukowski, poet, writer and subject of the movie Barfly use to be a regular here and also gave readings in this very room.

The Frolic Room is my jam! Best characters, best Bartenders.. amazing people.. and the stories.. the greatest thing about this jewel of a place, is that the traffic of creatives.. young and old that breeze through.. curious people.. passers by.. show goers.. locals.. drunks.. local drunks.. very welcoming. strong drinks. great juke box. there isn't a damn thing wrong with this place. i hold it close to my heart as a place i've met true friends.

Finally checked out the Frolic room with some friends last week. It is exactly what you would expect, a dark Hollywood dive bar. The staff was friendly and the drinks were cheap, as long as you ordered house liquor, the name brands jumped up a few dollars. Still compared to most Hollywood bars it was much cheaper. The decor is fun and retro and makes you feel like you are going back in time a few years. Great place to grab a drink before or after a show at the Pantages.
