I have never written a review of any sort for any product, restaurant, etc., but my experience at Sol Azteca on Sunday, June 2, was so awful I feel compelled to warn others. The service was not unfriendly but lousy (we waited over 30 minutes after ordering to be served, notwithstanding there were very few other customers (that should have been the first red flag). The waittress avoided our table for so long I eventually had to go find her to order a drink (and ask whether they had forgotten our order). The mojito I ordered tasted like a bunch of syrup on ice and the food was poor. My enchilada from the "specials" list was edible (nothing special, just edible fuel), but my husband's seafood (Veracruzano?) tasted bad and then made him feel horrible all night. The refried beans (hard to screw up) tasted like they'd been around a week too long and were way too salty. The cabbage just looked old. I guess the rice was palatable, if unremarkable. The chimichanga eaten by the 12 year-old among us was ok, but he was starving (especially after waiting so long to eat) and didn't think it was good enough to finish. All in all, a big waste of money and I'll never go back. I think it's time for Sol Azteca to call it a day.

My worst experience in Boston - dirty plates, not clean table, a hair in food. The salad was more like oil with greens, rather then vegetables with a bit of dressing. Only tortilla chips were good, it's hard to make them bad though. And prices for this quality I find extremely high. I don't recommend it anybody.

standard mexican food, in a standard mexican restaurant with standard low mexican prices.

Love everything about this place. Not from Boston but got really lucky finding it. Great food and some of the best salsa I have ever had.

the service was really great. very much enjoyed the decor. the food was average. i was very surprised that even for their vegetarian dishes they used animal products.

Tasty food - especially any of the shrimp dishes, and the guacamole. They are one of the few restaurants in the area with outdoor seating, so on a nice day if you're lucky you'll be able to snag a seat on the sidewalk patio.
