Empty nesters, we would like to recommend visiting the Meyerson! This beautiful symphony center was built in 1989 to accommodate the Dallas Symphony Orchestra; its unique stage design and immaculate acoustics have welcomed some of the world’s best performers. The centerpiece is the Eugene McDermott performance hall. With space for an audience of 2,062 people, it is considered one of the premiere contemporary performance halls in the world. An anchor for the Dallas Arts district, the Meyerson lies within walking distance of popular outdoor areas like Klyde Warren Park and the American Airlines Center. http://ow.ly/6sNm305RUZK

The next addition to our empty nester series is Southlake town square. For Tarrant county Hawkins-Welwood residents who want to enjoy fancy shopping, dining, and special events, Southlake town square presents a stunning traditional town centerpiece close to home. Open-air lifestyle shopping district with beautiful water fountains and diverse green-space parks. The square is attracting residents and visitors to an upscale experience year-round by hosting special events like Oktoberfest, Art in the Square, and a large Christmas tree installed in the center of the shopping center during winter time. http://ow.ly/wyV3305qgaq

The next feature in our empty-nester series is the American Airlines Center. The warm feeling of home court surrounds fans in this downtown Dallas sports arena. The AAC hosts the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Stars as well as year-round concerts and other entertainment events. Luxury platinum season tickets and suite rentals are available for guests who insist on being right up next to the action in order to experience Dallas top teams in style, but many have hailed the arena for providing a great view from any seat in the house. Once inside, there is a plethora of entertainment options waiting for the enthusiastic fan. Victory Park is built around the complex and features fine restaurants and retail shops. Its prime downtown location can make the commute a challenge for those fans driving to events, so the preferred method of travel by many is the DART rail station on the west side of the AAC. http://ow.ly/oaN3304QfpO

Need a day trip to discover a gem in your own backyard? Venture out to Fort Worth and discover the Kimball Art Museum, one of the best art museums in the nation. The building itself is a work of art, with stunning views of the outdoor environment to accompany the exhibitions on display. A collection of historic art work featuring ancient Greek, Assyrian, Roman, and Egyptian statues, pottery, figurines and paintings fill the halls of the museum with older pieces from established international artists and cultures. The permanent collection includes Saint Anthony by Michelangelo and The Coronation of the Virgin by Tiepolo. http://ow.ly/R0ZN304o9H0

Next up in our series for empty nesters in the DFW area is Northpark Mall. In 2007, Northpark, right in the heart of Dallas, was named one of the 7 retail wonders of the world. The high fashion and luxury shopping center boasts stores full of clothing, technology, home décor and jewelry, as well as several restaurants. Since its inception, the mall has made art exhibits an integral part of the building and the shopping experience. The showcase of major works includes large sculptures and paintings from well-known artists and it adds a distinct touch of sophistication to each visit. http://ow.ly/x9cz303Ws4y
