MY SUMMARY

He fought to ignore the idea of "making it viral". He said "make it useful for the user, then we'll figure out how to make it easy for them to share it."

1. Get the user using it as easily and quickly as possible.
2. Get the user to the "aha" moment where they really get it, as quickly as possible.
3. Improve the core, ongoing, value to the user.

You have to figure out the metrics for the above and then ignore the urge to just "go with your gut" without testing. This is usually due to ego: someone wants to feel that their "gut" is right.

So, figure out the above metrics and figure out how to improve them.

My thought: Monetizing early on is most useful as a signal of the above. For FB, with the potential for huge network effects (see Metcalf's Law) they didn't want to do anything to slow down #1,2, and 3 until they got the network effects.

I've seen a lot of your videos (they're great!). This one is THE BEST! I'd love to see more Backyard Drills. Those are useful for me and for my kids (12,12,11)

Thanks, Clay.  Saw your message 6 months ago but just seeing it again now.  Yep, another backyard drills vid sounds good.  One for all the family.  Added to the list!  Thanks for the inspiration.  Cheers.

Want to start a software company? I did 18 years ago and Andy is who I hired a few years ago for advice on marketing and sales. I highly recommend him.

I'm starting a new venture!

It is a 2 day training course for software developers who want to start their own software product business. It will be running over the weekend of 22/23 November in Wiltshire, England.

Please tell anyone you know that might be interested.

Sarah, excellent video! All my money is going into working on speech therapy software so I can't donate. BUT I can offer you free use of that software:  You can sign up online below.  Also if your message me I'll get you a code to use it beyond the free period.  http://MoreSpeech.com

As an iOS app developer, when your users want to access web content, you currently have two options: create your own in-app web browser frame, or send users away from your app to a browser. With Chrome’s OpenInChromeController class with x-callback (http://goo.gl/G5Bst), users can open a web page in Chrome and then return to your app with just one tap.

If you’re interested in including this in your app, head to the Chromium Blog for more details (http://goo.gl/32l0E) or straight to the developer docs (http://goo.gl/G5Bst).

Southfield, MI - Portland, OR - Hillsboro, OR
Best Thai food within 30 miles. While not as good a the best I've had in San Jose, Portland, Ore, or Seattle, it'd pretty darn good for southwest Virginia. It's certainly better than that *other* Thai place in downtown Blacksburg. Panang Curry is excellent. Pad Thai is pretty good.
