From the concordia list:
As usual, War of the Roses will have an Arts and Sciences competition, where the next Baronial A&S Champion will be chosen.
Endless thanks to Ose Silverhair who designed last year's competition, which enticed me to follow my (and my persona's) interest in the stars. The part that drew me in was looking at the world through the eyes of my persona and asking myself, "What would my persona know/think/believe ... about this?" I'm curious to see how other folks view their things through the eyes of their personas.
Put your thinking caps on! For this year's contest, you must enter
A Thing and a Story.
- the thing doesn't necessarily need to be made by you, but it needs to be something that your persona has, or interacts with.
- the story must be a single-sided page or less, telling us something about how your persona uses the thing, or interacts with the thing. It does not need to have a beginning, middle and end, but it should paint a word picture transporting us to the place where you and the thing exist in the middle ages.
- the story may be typed, or hand written
I might enter a fancy planisphere (which is a picture representation of the stars in the sky), and a story about how, since I don't own anything fancy, I visit the church where it rests (although I would use more words)
I might enter a belt, and a story about how this is my everyday belt that I use when I work in the fields. I might write about how I like that it's texture is rough, because it does a better job of holding up my dress than my fancy belt.
I might enter a jug and write about how this is the jug that I use in the mornings for my first drink of water (or beer, or mead). I might write about where the jug is kept and who it belongs to.
Please get back to me privately with any questions or things that aren't clear, and I will clarify, if necessary, to the entire group. I hope this engages you and excites you - and I hope to see many entries at WoR!
