We had reservations for four for my eldest son's 10th birthday. The lady who placed our reservation was very polite, enthusiastic, and even made sure to note my son's allergies. When our 18month old woke up sick the morning of the reservation the staff was very understanding and accommodating changing our reservation to just two people. Our servers were prompt and friendly. Made sure to clarify the allergy issue. The only down fall was when reading through the specials, she was a bit fast and hard to understand. However she was very understanding and willing to repeat herself. The food came very timely and we each had the 5 course dinner, some items were superb some not so much. But that was all about personal taste. My son had spiced mellon soup (this was the not so much), roasted chicken, and deconstructed root beer float with Happy 10th Birthday (which made his night). I had the spring salad with goat cheese and dates (amazing!), venison, and grasshopper dessert (dark chocolate hello). They boxed our leftovers away from the table and made my son's birthday dinner a pleasant surprise.

Two words for the owner of this establishment, "Soup Natzie." The owner of this establishment has no clue when it comes to customer service or class. The food was good a few years ago. My wife has been back a couple of times since then because she enjoys the food. However today, when my wife tried to make reservations for for us and another couple, the owner got on the phone and said to effect, we can't accept your reservation EVER. Essential he was telling her she was blackballed and all that he would tell her is a date of some incident with her on February 15th. My wife was flabbergasted because she hasn't been there in well over a year. The only thing she could think of, since there are three Jennifer Starkeys in the Springs, is perhaps another Jennifer Starkey caused a stink. When she tried to get more information out of him he hung up on her. Can you imagine making such a social gaffe? It just proves having money doesn't equate to having class. I suppose if you like the food that much you could continue to put up with the "Soup Natzie." However, I highly recommend staying away from this man's establishment. I can't imagine what it's like working for this man...those poor people. The only other possibility I can think of is when I went with her, which would have been over three years ago, I left critical feedback on a comment card for him which related to his customer service--which I recognized as sub-par. If that's the case, what a pathetic example of the smallness of a man. Who knows what really happened, but I imagine he pinned that comment card I left all those years ago with that critical feedback to his wall, wrote my wife's name on it since she made the reservation and waited this whole time for the opportunity to exact his revenge for all the trouble I caused him (whatever that was.) It would be funny if this were Seinfeld right?

We regret that we have to refuse serving anyone; however we reserve the right to refuse people who are argumentative with our staff while insisting that they may use multiple discounts. In our many 41 years in business we have refuse to serve a handful of people.

I have attended a wedding here a few years ago and most recently attended a business event... I have a love of history and architecture but that is not why I gave the 5 stars. The food that was served stepped out of my highest foodie dreams! I have a great appreciation for fine dining, maybe from trying so many recipes from Food & Wine magazine myself. The duck com fee was absolutely splendid, as was all of the menu items. The presentation left me feeling somewhat rewarded and the over all experience made me want to hum and rock back and forth. I didn't, of course, but dining at the Briarhurst Manor Estate was so perfectly exquisite. I can't wait to do it again.

When I recall my evening meal at the historic Briarhurst Manor, I find few ways to describe my experience other than a bodacious delight. Diligently seated, I found myself peering at a menu containing a wonderful assortment of not only classic dishes with unique flair, but also many original dishes conjured by their renowned executive chef Neil Moreno. Megan, our server for the evening, was very attentive and lively as she not only gave a detailed explanation of the menu, but also a brief historical background of the home and its prior occupants. How lovely it was that at no point in the evening did I feel rushed or unattended to. In due time our orders were in, The Pork, 2 Roasted Hens, as well as the Lobster Ravioli. My gaze veered away from the menu, and onto the many beautiful architectural features of this classic 19th century home. Accompanied with semi-candle lighting, quiet conversations, and the suitable spacing of tables the Briarhurst offers a stunningly unique romantic and peaceful dining experience. Our food arrived promptly. Through the first bite, to many, many, many, more bites I found a savory complexity of flavors that I unfortunately could not characterize in the remaining 800 characters allocated for this review. I will leave it at "simply stunning." Why stunning? Well, following this entrée the onset of paralysis from the third trimester food baby making a commotion in my stomach was quite overwhelming. I do not state that with the slightest negative connotation, but in fact, the exact opposite. With a delicious "Coffee and Doughnuts" dessert to bring the evening to a close, I found the strength to make my way through the entirety of the home, welcome to tours. If you have made it this far through my review you may be thinking, "This seems too good to be true," or perhaps even more likely, "Who paid this man to write this review?" I'll admit to a compensation, however, not of a monetary sort. It was the value of feeling at home, away from home.

I recently responded to someone's request for restaurant advice with the highest recommendation for Briarhurst Manor, a restaurant that had been my favorite. I'd like to retract that recommendation and warn anyone against supporting such abominable customer service! I called in to make a reservation for this weekend to celebrate my husband's upcoming retirement after 26+ years of military service. The receptionist gave me the available times and took my name. I mentioned that I had a Groupon and asked if that was alright, since in the past I was told a particular date I could not use it. The receptionist went to ask if I could use the Groupon since it was Mother's Day weekend. A man got on the phone and told me, "We will not be taking any reservations for you." I thought I heard him wrong and asked him to please repeat what he had said. I asked if he meant "ever" thinking he must be joking, but he said, "yes." Incredulously, I asked, "why?" He said, "You have been causing too many problems for us." Confused, I asked him how? When? He said on Feb 15th. I told him he must have me mixed up with someone else, that I haven't been there in over two years. I asked how he even knew who I was? He didn't explain so I asked who I was talking to and he said he was the owner! He refused to solve the problem and only said, "You are not welcome here." Then he HUNG UP on me. I have never caused them ANY problems, and have never been treated so poorly, especially by a business owner!!! Obviously, he doesn't care about his customers! Unfortunately for him, my 17,000+ local friends now know what he really thinks of his customers....thank you Google and Facebook!

I celebrated my 50th birthday at the Briarhurst Manor and had a very memorable experience. I've been there before and enjoyed their Rocky Mountain cuisine, so I looked forward to going there when I visited Manitou Springs last December. For starters, I had the Wild-Mushroom Duck Risotto while my 13 year old daughter had the lobster bisque. The Risotto was fantastic and my daughter loved the bisque (I tried a little of her dish and it was creamy and delicious). For dinner, I treated myself to two entrees: Colorado Bison and Wild Boar (being from New York I consider this Wild West food). The bison was so succulent I think I may have had a out-of-body experience eating it. The bacon-wrapped boar was equally savory; I enjoyed every bite (although at this point I was getting stuffed). My kid ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Scampi, which she demolished without too much help from me. The shrimp were gigantic and the pasta was drenched in a garlicky-lemon caper butter sauce, a real pleasing delight to the palate. Naturally, we had cake for dessert. One slice and I was done. Thanks to the staff of the Briarhurst for a truly unforgettable night. If you are ever in Manitou Springs, Colorado, I highly recommend this establishment for the food, great service and atmosphere.

Worst place that i have ever been my friends wedding was completely ruined and overcharged none of the steaks were cooked as asked not even when they were sent back even some of the chicken was raw! There was hair in my sons food and nothing was done about it the forks that i had were dirty with food on them. When we were served our cake the bride and groom hadn't even gotten their cake they had to ask for their cake the chocolate covered strawberries that we had were frozen and older than my grandma oh yeah the salad couldn't get any cheaper bag salad looks better not worth the money and I'm urging my friend to leave a review of her side of the story and all of the family and friends too. I've been to roach coaches that had better food and service.

It is extremely upsetting for all of our staff to read this review and learn of our guests disappointment. It is always our goal to provide the best possible experience for every guests who enters our doors. As the president of Briarhurst Manor any tiny flaw in our food or our service is of great concern. Guests were served Chicken Cordon Blu which was properly prepared and cooked; what was perceived as undercooked was actual the prosciutto (which is reddish in color). The steaks were cooked medium rare, although the bride requested that the meat be cooked medium well. The strawberries are never frozen, but prepared the same day with fresh berries. The salad was made of fresh field greens. Bride and groom are always served first. All of our staff is dedicated to profession service, take pride in their work while striving for excellence and all of our staff are human, they will make mistakes, but fervently strive to correct any flaw instantly if possible. Every guests is offered a comment card to express any concerns or compliments. Out of the many tens of thousands of cards a very small number express complaints; 90% of any complaint is expressing minors concerns. We always reach out to any guests who may express even a minor complaint. I have personally reach out to this bride in an attempt understand the issues that have been expressed and made a generous offer to compensate for her disappointment although I am positive that her opinion is in great contrast to over 300 reviews on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/BriarhurstManorEstate/reviews?ref=page_internal. I deeply regret our guests disappointment for our goal is always to provide an excellent experience in every way. One additional comment; we sold thousands of dinners on Groupon of which those guests provided a 93% approval rating (one of the highest on the site)

Excellent customer service and delicious food. This place is expensive, but it is good food and an awesome, romantic atmosphere. I took my parents-in-law here for their anniversary and it was very memorable.
