Nan or Nancy?
Nan is who I feel I really am, and Barber is my professional surname, because I like the sound of it, and my social surname, because I'm equally proud to be a member of my husband's awesome family. But when my dad died recently, I had to become identifiable to people who know me as "Nancy" and "Spargo" in order to make contact. To add further complication, my employer created a new corporate Google account for me as Nan Barber <email@example.com>, while I already had a personal Google account as Nan Barber <firstname.lastname@example.org>. So to distinguish between the two, I changed my name of this email@example.com account to my full, legal name, which is Nancy Spargo Barber. So you may now have me in your circles under two different names.
But you can call me Nan. :)
