My favorite quote from today's Tip Tuesday: "...if you survive, you might get interested in learning about the things that actually make you money on a site. And folks who are at that point are my clients. They’re past that freebie mindset stuff and ready for the meat and potatoes of successful site ownership."

A quick note to say I love the new look of your site, MaAnna! And I also see a change in your writing style with great calls to action.

Julianne, I made the switch to Stripe from PayPal about a year ago and have no regrets. The transaction fee is comparable, although you need to purchase an SSL certificate as MaAnna mentioned. My client's also seem to prefer Stripe. In the first few months of transition I offered PayPal and Stripe as payment alternatives on my invoices. 99.9% of client payments are made via Stripe. Payments are credited to your designated bank account within 48 hours.

... if we think the Net is just another ‘medium,’ we’re missing its real value as a simple and cost-free way to connect everybody and everything. This is what we meant in The Cluetrain Manifesto when we said ‘markets are conversations.’ Conversations are also not media. They are the main way humans connect with each other and share knowledge. The Internet extends that ability to a degree without precedent in human history. There is no telling how profound a change—hopefully for the better—this will brings to our species and the world we live in.
