Winfield's is an awesome restaurant with beautiful decor and outstanding dishes, however, on 9/7/2014 at 4:44pm, I had the worst customer service experience of my life. The manager ("Nikki"/"Nicky") displayed a repulsively smug attitude toward me while I was picking up my take-out order. My family and I have been patronizing this establishment weekly and consistently for approximately 3-years now and we've never ONCE experienced any type of mistreatment at all. It is my strong and honest opinion that Ms.Nikki/ Nicky is in dire need of some thorough training in customer sensitivity as she is very selective in the condescending manner in which she addresses some of Winfield's loyal customers. As Jessica was a very pleasant server that afternoon, Nikki/ Nicky was deficient in that area as she was quite crass and cold when talking to me. It all started with me being misinformed that there was Vodka in my Seafood Fra Diablo (with delicious "mild blush sauce" I've been ordering every single week). She was very argumentative as I kindly conceded and told her that it was never a big deal (while I maintained a smile). It then dawned on me that perhaps Nikki/ Nicky had a bad day before I arrived. If she did have a bad day it was NOT fair to me as a loyal customer to be at the receiving-end of her concentrated rant and smug attitude. I exited your fine establishment with a spoiled appetite, so much so that I thought it necessary to call the restaurant and speak to her manager about my terrible experience. Lo and behold, and unbeknownst to me, Nikki/ Nicky answers the phone and proceeds to inform me that she was, in fact, the manager! As I was taken aback, I kindly explained to her how offended I felt about the way I felt she disrespected me, including her continued disrespect as a nice couple entered the restaurant and waited to be seated. She boldly told me that it was actually I who had displayed such a nasty and disrespectful attitude! I respectfully asked her for her supervisor's/ owners' contact information so that I could submit my complaint regarding my embarrassing and belittling experience. She seemed a bit cheerful and "gipper" as she gave me the so-called contact information...which later turned out to be incorrect. Amidst my busy work schedule, I finally found this nice review forum to express my unpleasant experience with your manager. As I now reflect on my experience, I guess I'm sort-of glad my experience with Nikki/ Nicky took place, because it may shine a proverbial light of exposure as to this manager's unreported behavior to certain unsuspecting customers who are simply visiting Winfield's for a great memorable dining experience. Sadly, for the very first time in my life, I did now have that experience on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 4:44 pm. What made my experience even more hurtful, my family and I had just attended the funeral of my god-brother the day before (Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 2:00 pm.), yet I possessed enough resolve to remain pleasant and respectful to Nikki/ Nicky...though she refused to reciprocate the same. Lastly, I would like to inform the owner(s) of Winfield's that as I have been employed with the State of New Jersey, I've made a lot of friends along the way. I am responsible for scheduling several elections, meetings, and celebrations this year (each with a large party) and I seriously considered holding these gatherings in your upstairs dining area, but I am afraid that my guests would also be subjected to the kind of displeasurable experience I recently had at your restaurant. I do believe a sincere and heartfelt apology is due me, however I'm afraid that an apology from your manager would fall short of being anything but sincere. I thank you for listening. Best, Ken (4194305/ Approval: 054437)
