Captain Toad is one of those games we should be thankful exists. That may sound like hyperbole, but hear me out. I know, I know. It's tempting to be cynical. Nintendo needs more Wii U games, right? So here's a mini-game from Super Mario 3D World that's been expanded into a full retail release, ...

Ten years of World of Warcraft. Well. So many thoughts. WoW has always been a contradiction of sorts: not the pioneer, but the one that solidified the pattern. Not the experimenter, but the one that reaped the rewards. Not the innovator, but the one that was well-designed, built solidly, ...

A soccer game adapted for people with cerebral palsy has been designed that is operated with a foot switch, a push rod head switch and a hand switch. A new tool allows any player to have equal access with different physical conditions.

[Jamie Madigan writes about the overlap between psychology and video games at www.psychologyofgames.com. Follow him on Twitter: @JamieMadigan]. My wife was once highly offended by a cartoon mole. One of the few games I've ever been able to get her into was Animal Crossing on the Nintendo ...

I am fed up with the whole mobile/tablet gaming market. I've worked hard for three years and released two games to almost every mobile device you can think of. Never again. From now on I am focusing all my development resources on the PC. Frankly, I should have started there to begin with.

[Jamie Madigan writes about the overlap between psychology and video games. Check out more at Psychologyofgames.com or follow him on Twitter.] Sony recently launched its new Playstation Now service that lets you rent access to streaming games. Technically I know they're saying it's still in beta ...

Why talk about games/art? It's fairly well-agreed that the “Are games art?” debate was always pointless, and same goes for the “What is a game?” debate. This article is an answer to both of those questions. So why am I taking the time to write it? These conversations are almost always vapid and ...

Hi Gamasutra,. I sincerely apologise for the terrible title of this article. I'm quite aware that this is 2014 and RPG tropes aren't funny anymore, but you'll just have to deal with it. It is a pretty accurate description of what I'm going to talk about, promise.

Introduction
I am a game designer and developer currently focused on mobile platforms. After years working at the university as a professor and researcher, I decided to take the indie path.

I blog about mobile games development and all the indie stuff at Indie Dev Stories.

I am the creator of Muster my Monsters (2013), an innovative casual party game, New Sokoban (2011), a puzzle solving game, and paintingWalls (2010), a decoration app. I also run Refracted Pixel, a startup that develops mobile solutions for third party clients.

I like to believe that I design good experiences and create games that carry them to people. So, for me, the human factor is very important. I believe that if you put your best when designing and developing games, users receive the message somehow.

Toni earned a Computer Science degree at UPF university, Barcelona, Spain in 2005. After that, he worked as professor (teaching about game design/development and graphics programming) and researcher in UPF university and UPC university. In August 2009 he started the indie journey.
