Gettysburg 150th: This excursion train is an interesting contra project. At a time when museum, heritage funding is becoming more and more challenging, here comes another museum (on wheels). Let's hope people locally and from afar answer the call: "All aboard."

One-room schools in York County, Pa.: There's a bunch of them but here's one student's recollection at Diehl's School in North Codorus Township. That 'Corn-Cob College' stuff? Yes, that's right. It was out in the sticks.

Fastnachts, ugh, they can give you an immediate belly ache. Still, one of the YDR's least fine moments came about 20 years ago when a reporter dropped one off the top of the Yorktowne Hotel. Not sure why we did this? It was one of those things that someone thought was funny but didn't really turn out that way.
