Our story began 20 years back, when I was only thirteen and she was around ten or eleven. She used to live in the neighbourhood. I remember seeing her crying for the first time when we were young ‘because she had fallen in a game and hurt her knee. That is my first memory of her. I guess universe knew I was supposed to not let her cry. It was my twelfth board exams, and she had her tenth exams. We were in the same Maths tuition centre. I really liked her but had no courage to approach her because she never looked at me and my mother was a school teacher. I was always afraid that I would tell her that I liked her and next thing would be her father coming to my place with a complaint. It was only after a few years when I was in college that she came with her mother to our place enquiring about the subjects in my college and what would be good for her to opt. I took its full advantage and told her she should meet me tomorrow in my college. I said that in our parent's presence and everyone agreed. We met many times during her admission process. By that time I expressed my feelings for her. But she turned me down saying that I was only a good friend. I was heartbroken and swore to never speak to her again. She tried talking to me when she joined the college but I always avoided her.

Later, I got a government job and was posted near Tamil Nadu. And my hometown in on Gujarat-Maharashtra Border. So, when I turned of age, my mother started telling me to get married but I kept delaying it. One day, she just called me and said, that one of our relatives has gotten this proposal for you and you must consider. You even know her. You met her once when she came to our place. I started praying in my mind that my mother was mentioning her only. And I could not control my excitement and I asked, “Varsha?” And she said yes. The next weekend I was home. And everything was finalized. We were engaged soon but my transfer could not happen, which got postponed. And now we used to talk on phone everyday and miss each other every single day. This continued for eleven long months of our life. We finally got married after that. It has been now ten years to our marriage but I still get that "you made me wait for eleven months" and I tell her "you made me wait for eleven years". We are happily married now with two sons.
