Amazing young talent. His ability to capture the essence of the subject and his realism would have pleased and impressed Julian Ritter.

We've had a lot of new followers to the Profile page this week.

Please remember that we rarely post on the Julian Ritter page so please add +JulianRitterCentral to your circles. We have several new additions planned for 2012 including new content and new features at the JulianRitterCentral website. You can keep abreast of what's happening by circling +JulianRitterCentral including the wonderful portrait Julian painted in 1950 of Dobie Doc, an early character in the build-up of the Las Vegas Strip, which we entered for the #FigurativeArtFriday theme day. We also have new paintings from our members showing their Julian Ritter art.

If you visit the www.julianrittercentral.com website, please make sure to +1 any story or art that you particularly enjoy. Look for the "+1" button in the left column under the "Follow us on" section. The button turns blue for any page you +1 so that you know that you have already tagged that page.

Here’s what you missed this week if you do not have +JulianRitterCentral in your circles.

We are still posting a progression of Julian Ritter’s clown paintings to examine his development in this genre. We posted two of his "Clown with Showgirl" paintings from around 1962. We also posted a "Showgirl with Clown" which features a nude showgirl with the clown as supporting cast.

We are still getting back to our regular posting schedule after the holidays but we should be offering more content soon.

Please circle +JulianRitterCentral to follow our Art Page so you do not miss our posts.

It is also a good idea to remove +Julian Ritter from any circles after circling the Art Page.

Julian Ritter paintings - Buyer alert

As the librarian for the JulianRitterCentral project., I have asked both of Julian's children to review the following works currently available on eBay and both concur that they are not the work of their father, Julian Ritter. Both cite problems with style, technique and several issues with the signature. His daughter's review was particularly incisive and since she is both an artist and the person most familiar with Julian's work, her opinion should carry great weight.

The items listed on eBay are:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/250954236807?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_500wt_1221

Please use caution when buying the work of Julian Ritter as there are several known forgeries and frauds. These two items appear to simply be a misunderstanding by the seller as to the provenance of the works being sold.

To compare these works with known legitimate clown paintings, please visit http://www.julianrittercentral.com/catalogues/category/image-gallery/clowns-gallery.htm

On Friday, we posted the painting "Wulf" as our submission in the #FigurativeArtFriday theme day. The painting has an interesting story behind it which you can read on out Art Page.

Here’s what you missed this week if you do not have +JulianRitterCentral in your circles.

We are finished posting a progression of Julian Ritter’s clown paintings to examine his development in this genre. We posted a pair of paintings from 1972 titled “Leo” and “Jane”. We also posted “Clown” with nudes,” a rather lustful work commissioned by Julian patron, Steve Shoemaker. Finally, we posted two of Julian’s masterful clown compositions: “Clown Funeral” and ”Clowns,” the latter which might be Julian’s consummate clown painting.

We also started posting a series of quotes beginning yesterday and going through January 22 to commemorate the death of Julian’s wife, Hilde, on January 22, 1966

Please circle +JulianRitterCentral to follow our Art Page so you do not miss our posts.

This is the final reminder so now is the time to take action.

We are now posting art exclusively on our Art Page. Please circle +JulianRitterCentral to continue seeing our posts on the Art Page.

It would be best if you remove +Julian Ritter from your circles to avoid confusion - you won't see anything not related to the Art Page if you remove +Julian Ritter from your circles and you won't be missing anything because you will be seeing our posts in the JulianRitterCentral stream anyway.

Hope to see you on the +JulianRitterCentral Art Page.

Here’s what you missed this week (and a day) if you do not have +JulianRitterCentral in your circles.

We posted a series of 6 Mission Paintings painted by Julian Ritter in 1955. The paintings are “Mission San Diego de Alcalá”, “Mission San Juan Capistrano”, “Mission San Buenaventura”, “Mission Santa Barbara”, “Mission San Carlos Borroméo del río Carmelo” and “Mission San Francisco de Asís (Mission Dolores)”.

Yesterday, we posted a painting title “Fiesta” which was painted as a thank you for the prompt payment made for the Mission Paintings.

Today we posted “The Green Monkey” which was Julian’s, a painting of a figurine given to Julain which was his lucky mascot for nearly sixty years.

And, of course, we posted a few quotations from Julian which are interesting or provoking or, sometimes, just funny.

Please circle +JulianRitterCentral to follow our Art Page so you do not miss our posts.

It is also a good idea to remove +Julian Ritter from any circles after circling the Art Page.

Introduction
We are now posting primarily on our JulianRitterCentral page. Please add +JulianRitterCentral to your circles to make sure you see our content once we fully migrate to the new Google+ Page.

You should also remove the +Julian Ritter account from your circles.

This account is maintained by the librarian for the Ritter Family Trust and the JulianRitterCentral project (http://www.julianrittercentral.com). The goal of this project and the purpose of this account is to inspire artists and an appreciation of the arts. I hope you enjoy what we share with you.

The following is a brief autobiographical profile on Julian.

I am an artist and adventurer who married my two great passions - the sea and painting - into an opportunity to paint the South Pacific on my floating studio, the 45' yawl Galilee.

I have painted many works including nudes, clowns and portraits that always captured the humanity of the subject. Though I am best known for my nudes and clowns, I have also painted landscapes at various periods of my life and my "lifescapes" are grander visions that speak to the humanity in all of us.

You can read more about my life and look at my gallery of paintings at www.julianrittercentral.com  - the most comprehensive site about the artist Julian Ritter.
