Hashtag tip
There has been some discussion about the way hashtags work on Google+ versus how they work on Twitter. I think I've found a good solution.

The problem is that Twitter hashtags match exactly, whereas Google+ hashtags match loosely. My wife's art business is called ALittle Character. It would be nice to be able to use #alittlecharacter to find all of her art posts. On Twitter that would work, but on Google+ it would also find the common phrase a little character, so it would find posts completely unrelated to ALittleCharacter.

My solution:
I have a simple way to make your hashtag unique so it won't match common phrases. Click the hashtags below. I chose occupy wall street since it is such a popular term. I think you will find that this is the only post that will appear in the results. In other words, these hashtags work like they do in Twitter.

#x_occupy_wallstreet

The trick is to start with #x_ then add your hashtag as normal. Of course, any letter would work. I chose x to stand for exact as in exact hashtag.
Also, I tested whether using x would cause a problem for terms that start with x like the game console, x-box. It still works. For example, if I wanted to make an exact hashtag for box, I can and I don't get posts about the x-box in the results.
#x_box

I tried special characters after the #, but the only way it works is with a letter after the pound symbol. The underscore after the #x isn't necessary, but I think it looks nicer than without.

If this is an issue that concerned you, let me know what you think of this idea. If you want to read more about the issue check +M Sinclair Stevens's posts. He has gone into detail about why this matters.
