- Welcome to the group. I see you're just getting your "social selling" feet wet. It's always difficult (and slow) in the beginning. As it looks like you're primarily focused on LinkedIn, here's a few ideas i'll throw at you.
1. Find real-time speaking engagements. Meetups, local chamber of commerce events, panels, etc. We may see "social selling" as the norm, but the majority of people (intelligent business professionals) still struggle with effectively leveraging social networks for business.
2. I'm not sure if socialsaleslink.com is your website or who Brynne Tillman, but it (and her approach) are garbage.
Tweet from @SocialSalesLink
"LinkedIn's search algorithm is simple he who list the search term the most amount of times wins." #linkedinchat
That speaks volumes. Especially from someone claiming to be a professional trainer / coach.
The company Facebook page is terrible. I'd like to know how much they are spending per post buying those fake likes.
It also confused me when going to read your LinkedIn publisher post seeing her $30 paperback book (w/ no digital version) advertisement.
If she is really teaching you something... great, but I believe "self proclaimed" professionals like her do just as much harm to the industry as they do good.
My advice: Find a new mentor that's going to help you develop yourself.
3. Find time for speaking engagements as mentioned above and offer a la carte LinkedIn services.
LinkedIn Profile Optimization
LinkedIn Profile Creation (for those with none)
LinkedIn Research Training (prospecting / building relationships)
LinkedIn Company Page Creation
Group Training for smaller more agile companies
Change you G+ profile to match your LinkedIn profile. Better business look.
I don't mean to pee in your Wheaties. I'm a pretty blunt individual. We all have our shortcomings and i'm not a social media expert, but I'd struggle to put my faith in a "social selling" company that handles their own social media so poorly.
Joel (SMM) and Asif (SM Consultant) really need to reevaluate their social media plan for SSL.Oct 15, 2014
- Hey! I respect your forward approach. I am focused right now on Linkedin since its the main platform I am using to get prospects for clients. On November 5th, I am hosting an event with over 100 + attendees in NYC.
We were ranked as Top 23 social selling companies along with some other heavy hitters in the game. Our book also got approved from Koka Sexton
"This book from Brynne Tillman encapsulates the social selling ethos. Page after page of tips and best practices for sales professionals. I see this as a workbook and the most up to date reference material for sales people learning to leverage LinkedIn. Keep this book on your desk, the information within will provide value for a long time." - Koka Sexton"
Koka is the number #1 Social Selling Influencer and he approves of our method. How many Linkedin trainers do you know have Koka testimony? He is Linkedin Global Sr. Social Marketing Manager.
As far as the comment on Linkedin Chat.
"LinkedIn's search algorithm is simple he who list the search term the most amount of times wins." "
Linkedin algorithm is like a webpage from the 90's the more keywords you have, the higher you appear on searches and can be found. Linkedin has over 300+ million users why would you not want to be found easier? But that is just one piece of the puzzle. And as far as Facebook Goes. We have not yet used FB to market B2B clients. Our Main platforms right now are Linkedin and Twitter. I am incorporating g+ into it to see how it can work for us.
However, you made some good points about changing my G+ to reflect my professional services. And hosting live events. I will Jump right into that.
I also did an Audit of your website
You received a C- for your website grade and for your TOTAL MEDIA SHARES SUMMARY your page only received a total of Two Shares, and that was on Twitter. I also audit your LinkedIn, and you have some room for opportunity if you wish to discuss things further.
As far as our Media Shares we have over 700 + share. We get most of our content shared through our website on Linkedin and Twitter. The biggest opportunity we have is g+ since it has the lowest shares. This is where I need help on.
I am also curious to know why are you not optimizing?
I understand with FB you get likes, shares, and comments. But I don't care about that. Who cares how many people click your ads get, you want leads, and you get them through emails! The way you grow is getting emails. And launching email marketing campaigns.
You should follow me on Twitter @RonnieCuriel I am covering the Social Media Summit 2014 Live.
I must say I am blown away with G+. I also appreciate your honesty. Thank you : )Oct 15, 2014
- Appreciate you taking my criticism openly. I'm surprised by the" top 23 social selling companies". I've also never heard of Koka Sexton before (had to look him up).
I still don't know that i'd encourage keyword stuffing on LinkedIn (although I see many that do) as that tweet mentions.
I took a deeper look at the Twitter and LinkedIn company page. They both have minimal engagement. The company page is just bad link dropping. Inconsistent postings also.
For a company the ride LinkedIn so heavily, you'd think they would at least have passable LinkedIn company page posting practices. Maybe i'm being nit-picky.
The social sharing analytics tool I used showed less than 50 shares of the website with blog posts seeing an additional 20-30.
I also ran @SocialSalesLink through a Twitter audit. Of the 4,141followers, 2750 are fake. 67%
My website is a bit laughable, I agree. It's actually a Dropbox build. I'm on my second version. The truth is a website doesn't sell me. I don't need Facebook shares for businesses to work with me. I learned a few years ago that my efforts were best spent as I mentioned above. Simply sharing knowledge.
I would encourage you not to get too caught up in the "optimization" trap. Sure, we all want to work more efficiently and optimize our processes. The problem being, the more you do that... the less "social selling" you are actually doing because all you see (and want to achieve) are numbers.
I can dangle screenshots of Facebook posts reaching over a million "organic" fans, Pins with 500+ repins, and tweets reaching 250,000 people, but that doesn't mean i'm winning or doing social media right. Those are just steps along the way to building an engaged audience.
"Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." ~Einstein
G+ is an excellent social layer. It's my network of choice. I use it as the hub for my social media efforts and those of the clients I serve. I've got nothing but positive things to sayOct 15, 2014
You were not lying when you mention you are Fearless Social Media Manager Ha.Ha. : D
You can get banned for doing keyword stuffing. But there is way to do it and come up higher on search results while conveying the value you can bring to customers.
The tool I used to get your site grade and social media presence were
http://www.quicksprout.com/ - this is a great page and you can audit seo and social media shares on the page.
I also use SocialShareCheck chorme plug - hubspot.com recommended it. Its not the best plug, but it gives me an overall popularity of a page.
Which tools did you use to check our SSL social shares?
As for Twitter, I was a little surprised on those findings. I did my own Twitter fake followers by using. And i had a 95% followers are good.
+SocialBakers Free Tools
I agreed with you. I believe the most important thing is to do is share your knowledge and bring value. This builds credibility with who you share your knowledge with. By optimization I get to work more closely with my clients 1:1 or in group settings and provide them with more value.
However, you made a good point in mentioning to throw more live workshops. And our first workshop in NYC will have a good number of attendees showing up : )
How has google + been working for you and your clients? compare to other social media channels?
Thank you for your insights - You Fearless Social Media Manager Ha.HaOct 15, 2014
- I'm a fan of Quicksprout website grader. It's in my digial toolbox. It's a good one.
I used http://www.sharedcount.com/ to double check Social Analytics (chrome plugin) to get the website share information. I never assume any of these tools give 100% accurate info, but they were both relatively close.
As for the twitter audit:
I don't like socialbakers because they only use a sample size of 100 compared to Twitter Audit using 5000. It's too small for my liking. Most of these tools have different ranking factors so it makes it hard to say with any degree of certainty. I just like Twitter audit for its simplicity.
Don't get me wrong. There's some tweets that had 2k and 4k retweets, but I don't think it was "organic" based on the regular engagement seen on their Twitter feed. They're normal flow is more like mine. Crickets :).
It's a similar pattern as seen on their Facebook page. I guess it doesn't matter so much as long as they aren't boasting about their numbers or engagement.
If you have access to their Facebook page would you run an insights report through simply measured. Love to see where those likes came from.
Good conversation .Oct 15, 2014
I was surprised at that study, but we did a Twitter follower scanned and saw there are 4% fake and 1% inactive. We are blocking this account. But it was not 75% I don't understand how two analytics tool can have such a huge margin in calculation. And i thought to myself , if Brynne was to fake her followers, i think she will fake 50k followers instead of 2k follower. It did not make sense.
TwitterAudit is a little strange ha.ha.ha : D
The reason i like Socialbakers is because its the most popular provider of social media analytic tools, statistics and metrics for Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, YouTube and LinkedIn.
But it was Great exchanging information with you : DOct 15, 2014
- Nigel OhrumModerator+1Socialbakers seems decent, but there plenty of options that provide detailed social analytics.
I use the free options with Quintly and Simply Measured. I've been itching to try Crowdbooster though.
Thanks again for the great discussion.Oct 15, 2014
