Probably my favorite place that I visited during my trip to Atlanta. This place has an AMAZING section of craft beer with a very laid back atmosphere. The place was stocked with tons of local craft and very knowledgeable bartenders. All of this came at an incredibly cheap price, too. Will definitely be making another trip here next time I'm in Atlanta!

Avoided this place for the longest time because I'm normally not too crazy about burger joints. Huge surprise when we went as a last resort option, this place is incredible. Food selection is unique, staff is attentive and knowledgeable on the menu (which is written amazingly), and the atmosphere is incredible, so much to see! Will be back, and often, hoping to catch a comedy show next time!

I really went for the Monte Cristo sandwich, but when I arrived we were told it is not on the menu anymore! Instead I ordered a Cuban, that was great. The bread was golden and crispy and the pork was expertly seasoned. The decor of the Vortex is like a glorified Skate shop, but kept me interested while we waited for our food.

Went here on New Years Eve. Can't really say a lot of the place itself. It was really busy at the time so service was crappy but the burger was really good, probably the best burger joint I'd been to in 2013. Though can't say that I'm a fan of the chilpotle cream cheese. I can see myself going back. Update... I have been back service was still great food was still great, differently the better of the 2 locations.

We went to the Midtown location; the burgers all sound great, and maybe I just got the wrong one, but I wasn't over excited by mine. I got the western one with BBQ sauce and onion rings and I've had better elsewhere. We did enjoy the nacho tater tots though and my mom's burger which had pulled pork and bacon on it was pretty good when I ate her leftovers the next day (they're huge burgers). The service was fantastic though. I wish I remembered our server's, name, we all really really liked him - he has Super Mario Brothers tattoos all over his arms and PacMan on his fingers!

The manager was quite petty and rude after a simple misunderstanding about the rules. She really talked down to me and made me feel unwelcome. This is a true shame because the Vortex has excellent cooks and the waitstaff. I really hope others have a better experience. Just know asking for the manager is only going to make your life worse. I wish the Vortex would hire a more amicable manager to make the experience all the more pleasant for the customer. I will not return to this location. Go to the one downtown!

I was in Atlanta for a work conference and while visiting, my friend who's a local, recommended we go to the Vortex for dinner. I noticed it was one of the places Adam Richman visited when he was in Atlanta on Man v. Food. The Vortex is well-known for their burgers and has won "Best Burger in Atlanta" awards since 1992. Their burgers are char-grilled over an open flame and they offer over 20 burger varieties. I ordered their Holy Guacamole burger, which is topped with jack cheese and as the name suggests, a big scoop of guacamole. I absolutely love guacamole burgers, so I was very excited to try this burger. It lived up to my expectations - a very delicious burger. I like how low-key and unpretentious this restaurant is, despite their numerous awards, their first and primary concern is their customers. Service is good; even though it was very busy, our server always came by to make sure we were good to go. You have to be at least 18 in order to get into the place, as the City did so to conform to smoking laws.
