I spent several weeks in Kona and I ended up a regular here. An unassuming restaurant heavily patronized by locals, which in itself is a good indicator of quality in a touristy town. The entire staff was very bright and friendly, the basic breakfast menu was good and well priced, and the coffee keeps coming without having to endlessly ask for a refill, which is almost unheard of elsewhere on this island. I especially love their Hawaiian sweet bread French toast and the coconut syrup. With coffee, $12! That won't seemingly even get you a glass of water at most of the waterfront restaurants...

Nice Island Fare. We tried the Kalua Pork w/ Cabbage and the Super Loco Moco. We saw how huge the Mud Pie is, but didn't order it as we would have needed to bring at least 2 more friends to tackle it ;o).

Good stuff. My wife had the prime rib, it wasn't rare like we like it but was pretty good (she really wanted the Lau Lau but they were sold out for the day). I had a three three way Loco moco with fried shrimp, pork, and spam. The fried shrimp was ok, but the pork and spam were really good. I think I little less gravy would have been better. Went an hour before they closed and it was packed. Overall we liked the food and would definitely go back.

Worth going, portions are large, price is good. Service is fast and professional. The loco mocos are definitely worth coming for. Beware the ice cream cake dessert slice, one is large enough for a family and probably has 9,000 calories. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area.

Do you like it greasy and luke warm? You'll probably like it. Neither of us were happy with our meal and won't be back. Majority of good reviews are from locals who quite honestly just have different taste buds from mainlanders and others who may be used to a different quality of diner type food.
