Wonderful, diverse park in the heart of Memphis. We ride our bikes to the park and our favorite things to do inside the park are hike the natural trails in the Old Forest and play on the playground. The large open greensward is perfect for family picnics, Frisbee, soccer, and general congregating. We visit about 3 times a week.

We come here for the dog park. Some owners let their dogs play a little too rough for our liking but when that happens, we can take our dog on a walk around the park. It's great that it's friendly to off-leash dog walks.

I lived right down the street, when I was a little girl . I only have very happy memories there. That's where I spent most of my teenage years . And my mom she used to take all of us to the wadding pool . I miss that place .

Location is great. Aug 21, 2015 I was harassed by a (white) woman about my Standard Poodles playing w her 5 month old dog. She said they were "aggressive" (they were not) and she started hitting my dog, swearing at them then she verbally attacked me. I explained we were park regulars, I've worked at the humane society and can assure her my dogs who are puppies themselves, are not aggressive. It's routine pack play. As an obviously nervous new owner, I thought this would calm her. She then started yelling at me to "Go back to your own neighborhood!" (I'm a Cooper Young native-attended Central AND Christian Brothers University); called me a "black bitch"; in a continued fit of rage as she walked away, she repeatedly hurled "N*****!!!". Another park visitor witnessed this and came over to apologize. The park needs to post CLEAR RULES AND PARK ETIQUETTE. You do not touch another person's dog. Remove YOURS. Dogs will pack-play. If this makes you nervous, keep your dog at home. Keep gates closed (she had both wide open- my dogs are $1500 each). This ignorant, racist, terrorist harassed both my dogs and me in what is a public sanctuary for many.

This is where I take Jessie (my dog) for the walks we both enjoys so much. It's not the closest park to where I live but its 300+ acres prove perfect for getting all that energy Jessie has. Plus the Overton Bark is an awesome feature. I usually bring a book and read away an hour or two. Overton Park gives you the opportunity to truly appreciate nature as it is always clean and well kept. Keep up the good work guys.
