2 weeks ago - I held my friend in my arms as we watched her husband get CPR from many people...he didn't come back. While that experience will be forever in mind. Thirty-five minutes our neighbor, paramedics and firefighters worked tirelessly as we stood there helpless.
She just reached out to me to thank me. THANK ME? She said it helped her immeasurably. How comforting it was that I am so warm, caring and compassionate. ME? I was scared. Locked in silent prayer. No tears until I was alone. I couldn't leave her alone. I never backed away as help came. I rubbed her back, held her hand and embraced her.
I offered to take her to dinners, keep her company and help her clean and organize her husband of 45 years' life~ she politely said she had her hands full and that she wasn't too shy to asked for help and that she would be in in touch.
Being a giver I want to leave flowers, food and visit but I trust her. There will be a time for me to give. And when I do I hope that she won't always remember the last time I held her. This article touched me. It helped me!
I want to take a moment to remember and celebrate Jules. He was such a happy and loving man. Played golf 3 times a week. Loved his grandchildren and immensely publicly adored his wife. They still held hands until the end.
A few weeks before he died he saw my son and I playing with play golf clubs. He so kindly left my son a REAL ONE with our doorman. We will cherish that now.
Jules- enjoy your next phase....and we will be loving your wife until we all meet again.
