Just back from Google's NEXT Cloud Platform conference. While Google's Maps API was in the Enterprise offered, Earth was not. Google's Earth was only used to baseline the Machine Learning leverage they are offering - come one come all. Free Google Earth Enterprise has been provided for several years for scientific study of "earth-scale" topics. Myself I don't quite understand the merit or the near term features we might as a community gain by Earth Engine other than a speculative gift? A great globe with sparse content is of little use? I am also a Daydream Believer awaiting my Tango lessons and speculate that there will be great value in Global Daydreaming - going anywhere anytime for Street View and near real-time cultural events... public and private. Just grab a $400 spherical bubble-cam, link its stitched fun-bubble to my 4G Android phone, make the YouTube LIVE link and "Party Time"! But how to navigate in Maps Space is not as nearly as exciting as a fly through on a 3D Earth?

My heart skipped a beat today, 12/14/2016, when I saw this post come-over my desk. Gosh something from the geoGooglers and Google I/O? A small insight to be shared? A morsel of tid-bit of a vision? Something some future other than Esri? Disappointingly no, just a regurgitation of the sparce offer at this past May's 2016 I/O. But I too am a die-hard 3D Earth'ist. Esri's ArcGIS Earth simply sucks - can neither absorb nor export valid KML... stuck with SHP and a closed world by geodesign(tm)...?

And my new Pixel and its DayDream provided "0" for 3D exposure to the WORLD aka Earth.... maybe someday? You can get there but only at effort; was there something lurking just out of sight that would allow traveling while standing still? Why? StreetView or Street View is available to eveyone and I think YouTube 360 will soon explode with all sorts of new 360 bubble-cam VOD and LIVE that is also qualified as Street View 360LIVE.

"Oh, the Places You Will Go!"

Ok, good news. Latency is an interesting metric. Trying to sort this out I would welcome what might be the most appropriate pathway to enterprise's inward and restricted share in current design to be able to "play by the rules" and to leverage all the Maps goodness for larger re-purposed use of Maps, YouTube, and other Google API. How agile can all of this be from the personal/enterprise confidential with qualified guests as well as when appropriate to shift to outward looking/share for public services?
