I have to say, the prices were a bit higher here than I would have expected of an Indian restaurant, but the food was delicious and the atmosphere was a comfortable chic. I took family here once because we couldn't get seated at any other restaurant and they loved it! The flavors were right on the nose and the chai was fantastic.

Dosa is a little on the pricier side for Indian fare, but it's upscale and very well prepared. You can't go wrong with any of the dosas, and the sweet potato and spicy mung are especially crowd pleasers. The location on a busy stretch of Valencia at 21st makes this a popular spot for dinner and draws a diverse crowd. This location feels a bit smaller than the one in Japantown.

Similar menu to Dosa on Filmore. Not surprising since it's the same owner. The decor is more relaxed than the Filmore location, as befitting the Mission location. The sprouted mung bean salad was heavenly, the paneer and pea dosa was excellent, same goes for the Rava masala dosa. Everything is spiced just right and delicious. Service is attentive and unobstrusive.

We were in town for a convention near the airport and took a taxi up to Dosa on Valentia based upon the 1076 reviews with an average of 4.1 out of 5. We're very familiar with Northern India Food, so it was really fun to experience Southern India Food. We didn't make reservations (sounds like that would be a good idea for Friday night when we went). We ended up sitting at the bar. Jake was exceptional in explaining and recommending options. From how our meals tasted his recommendations were exceptional. We ended up choosing the sampler menu where we each selected something for each of the three courses. This has smaller portions, but more variety than if we'd just ordered regular items. As a result, we were able to experience more diverse types of South India Food. Jakes helpfulness and deep knowledge of the menu helped us to make great selections in choosing our dinner. We had an excellent dining experience. The food was excellent, varied in flavors. The two Dosa's we had were incredible. We really enjoyed the appetizers and main dishes too! Jake and the other bar tender were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the food! Not only was the food 4.5 to 5, but the service by Jake and the other bar tender was a 5-6. Jake and Dosa on Valencia team, thank you for a great dinner! Now there's 1077 reviews for Dosa on Valentia!

Talk about yummy in the tummy. I don't usually pay $15 for south indian food, seeing as how the hole in the wall places are usually the best, but Dosa definitely takes it home for a trendy place. I'm a huge fan of uttapam, so that's what I got. They had a "tasting" of 5 different uttapam, so I got that. My favorites were the mushroom and caramelized onion ones. We also ordered this crab cake thing, which was like 100x better than normal crab cakes. Plus the chutney was amazing. Great place for dosas and uttapam - something you don't find at your run-of-the-mill indian place. Great cocktails too.

Good South Indian food in an upscale setting. Try a paper masala dosa and/or a vada pav (vegetarian slider). Their cocktails are tasty. Unlike most South Indian restaurants, they also have meat dishes.
