Professionals in the hospitality industry already know that every guest is different, with specific needs, likes, and dislikes. They also know it’s getting harder and harder to succeed in today’s world, when competitors are savvier at meeting the expectation of more guests by monitoring reviews and online conversations, and adapting to provide an experience as close to their desires. Many travelers still value a comfy bed with quality linen and a...

Summer is the high season for the all familiar beach spots families and couples head to for sunbathing bliss and waterborne wonder. Aquamarine seas beckon powerfully for those who have been pent up in cold climates and especially for office dwellers bursting to escape the tiny cubicles in those glass towers of the metropolis. Countryside getaways are likewise the trend, as travelers from the tepid climactic zones seek out the cool mountain air of...

Τhe last fifteen years, several small hotels have sprung all over Greece. Their philosophy is to offer travelers a genuine taste of Greek “philoxenia”; by arranging for a personal and friendly approach to every aspect of hospitality, by being personally involved in preparing proposals for activities for their guests and take personal care of their guests to ensure they have a good time. "Philoxenia” is the Greek word for hospitality - it comes fr...

HENDERSONVILLE, TENNESSEE - The U.S. hotel industry reported mixed results in the three key performance metrics during July 2016, according to data from STR. Compared with July 2015, the U.S. hotel industry’s occupancy decreased 1.0% to 74.4%. However, average daily rate for the month was up 3.6% to US$128.77, and revenue per available room grew 2.5% to US$95.81. “July supply growth crept up 1.6%, and demand growth slowed to an anemic 0.6%—basica...

Introduction
If you know me, you don't need this information do you? If not?

An author and consultant, I began exploring the web about the time Caesar commissioned it to be made. No seriously. I author several news columns, advise Internet companies, and analyze just about everything.

Check out Everything PR News, Argophilia Travel News, or the archives of some famous tech blogs - I've been around some. As you may be able to tell, I am not always comfortable talking about me. I am however, one of the world's great husbands and dads.

Having only had Hungarian cuisine at a few restaurants in the United States, and at a Hungarian friend's house here in Germany, this Schweich restaurant is now one of my favorites. One might think something like Goulash is easy to make, but I can tell you, the difference in between genuine and "thrown together" soups is vast. Super hospitable, and casual as can be, this local restaurant is a welcome addition to the normal Germany and Italian gastronomy we've grown used to. Try the Palinka here, if you are brave enough for the burn. Expect decent prices on a par with other local eateries. You won't go away hungry, the portions are massive here too.

My family and I arrived in Heraklion on a blustery day in March, 2014. A bit of a storm was blowing in from the sea, the airport was cool and windswept as you'd expect. On arriving at the Lato one of the first things that impressed us was how "apologetic" everyone was over the weather. Having arrived from Germany, the obvious warm for us, and the refreshing atmosphere, made us smile at what we later knew as "Filoxenia" - the Cretan love of travelers. The most spectacular view in the city, perfectly attentive staff, and especially the cuisine here, these and more aspects of the hotel impressed us all mightily. Guests we took to dinner were as impressed by the new chef and the wine selection. Finally, the best thing I took with me home was the memory of waking up, head on a crispy white pillow, staring out at the azure Cretan Sea and the Venetian Fortress. Life should always be like room service at Lato. And I've stayed at 1000 hotels.

Brillant chef Zinonas Christofidis is a genius of creativity and presentation. Guests here can expect the full gourmet treatment, leaving off the pretension and price usually associated with the best gastronomy. This is a classy establishment that offers creative traditional Cretan cuisine. Ask for the hotel director's favorite wine suggestions, this alone will exceed your expectations for the place. I had the Lamb “soutzoukakia”, which is a kind of Greek meatball made with lamb, wheat, and fresh mint for a main - magnificent!
