Lamb chops were mostly salty. Server did not go out of her way to make the meal better. I said it was "okay" she asked if there was anything to make the lamb better. I said "not really. Just okay. Mostly salty." That was the end. She really could have went further it gave the sense she would apologize or try to do something anyway. The calamari was also mostly salty. The dip was nice. No bread and olive oil were offered despite other tables receiving these. Overall I would not recommend this place. The ambiance was fine, but none of the staff looked like they cared or were particularly friendly. In general it doesn't look like they try very hard beyond simple upscale presentation.

Baked Feta alone is worth the trip. Memorable. Grilled octopus. Ravioli. Ribs. Pressed fresh berries. Excellent. Service is slow. But worth the wait.

High end greek food, everything prepared and presented with care. A little be pricey but that's expected from this high-end restaurant location.

They have a MEAT FIREPLACE! It's a giant fireplace with lamb and chickens roasting in it. Unfortunately, I didn't try anything from it -- this time. Started with the octopus appetizer. It comes with a lemon wedge, but try it without first -- the acid overpowers. Crusty, burned, a bit soft as if there's fat. No, but in a delicious way. Good texture: not rubbery or dry. Also had the giant beans. Okay, they're not the size of your head or anything, and they didn't quite taste greek. Rather, Mexican perhaps? Also delicious. My main was the ravioli with roasted mushrooms. They smelled so good that someone sitting near us at the bar commented on it. I was told to tell you that the bread was old. It was free bread, but apparently a little stale. Another thing -- why regular bread? Many things on the menu didn't seem very Greek.

Phenomenally Delicious!!! Greek dishes, with the freshest of ingredients. Their rotisserie just adds even more to the experience. Hard to get into, but so worth it! Has to be the best Greek restaurant in the United States!

I eat here a lot! The gyros is so good after a night out of drinking . The people that work here are super friendly and just plain nice. I love to go here and relax. The food is always fresh and fast.

My husband is Armenian, and when we looked at the menu for this restaurant, we were sold! You walk into a clean, vintage look of white and black elegance, a la 1940's era. Its design is open and clean with just the right amount of light. The food was wonderful. I was satiated by the bountiful fresh pita bread that continued to grace our table. It complimented the Taste of 10e (choice of four spreads) we ordered - but had to try the other small plates we ordered as well (we'll have to go back to taste more of their mouth watering menu). The Barnabe melee, a cauliflower dish, was delicious. If you love Mediterranean or Armenian food, or you're just feeling adventurous and want to try something new, Kokkari Estiatorio is a find!

“High expectations are met” at this longtime, “world-class” Downtown Greek that “sets the bar” with its "electric atmosphere" and “irresistible” food (notably, the “divine” lamb chops or “whatever is being prepared on the spit”) served by “impeccable” staffers who pay “attention to detail”; the "stunning", "rustic yet urbane" setting features a "large stone fireplace" and handmade pottery, all attracting an “elite business” crowd that relishes the “sophisticated” milieu and tolerates the “expensive” tabs, while warning that “reservations are a necessity” here. Learn more about Kokkari Estiatorio. What to order Whole fish of the day Moussaka (pictured) Baked feta Insider tip: Can't get a dinner reservation? Lunch is the same menu and an easier reservation. Plus: the airy space is sunny, warm and welcoming.
