Fine-art photographer Gary Reed’s career spans 30 years and counting. His photography has been exhibited nationally in over 30 solo and group exhibitions, and is held in many private collections. Among other venues, he has exhibited his work at the Painted Bride, The Imperfect Gallery, The Philadelphia Photo Art Center, 3rd Street Gallery, The University of Pennsylvania Museum, and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, where he earned a degree in photography. Reed is the author of The Lost Centennial Project, published by Blurb Press in 2012, which was accompanied by a traveling exhibition at the Fairmount Park Welcome Center in Philadelphia. His work has been published in The Philadelphia Inquirer, The City Paper, Temple University Press, Print Magazine, and Newsweek. Among the nonprofit artist groups Reed has helped form are The African American Photography Forum, The Artists League of Mount Airy, and Germantown Artists Roundtable, where he is the Treasurer and heads the Membership Committee. He is also on the Membership Board of the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center. He is a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.

Born in July of 2004, Emily Burke has been drawing since she could hold an implement. Her artistic inclinations were evident by age three and, as her father, Pat Burke, notes, “She had pretty much taught herself to read by the time she entered kindergarten.” She began drawing copiously, sometimes filling a notebook in a week’s time. He observes that in 2011, Emily was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum, with Asperger syndrome, and refers those who would like to know more about this condition to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndrome on the web. The senior Burke recalls that, “Some [of Emily’s] early stuff was just random doodles but they showed a very tight command of her drawing hand.” Until recently, dogs were among Emily Burke’s favorite subjects but she has recently concentrated on birds. Her work includes single and multi-paneled cartoons with captions. She has also created watercolor paintings, some of which will be included in the April exhibition. In December, she won the People’s Choice Award in MRAC’s Co-Op Artists Juried Show and in 2011, won second place in MRAC’s student art contest. At age six, she was the contest’s youngest entrant.
