PRESS RELEASE
24 March, 2014.
Surrey photographer holds exhibition of Princess Diana portraits across Japan.

A stunning new photographic exhibition, ‘Diana: A Princess Remembered’, has successfully taken place throughout Japan, featuring over 100 photo portraits of Diana, Princess of Wales taken by Glenn Harvey, a Surrey-based former official Royal photographer. The special collection of large format photographs of the late princess was staged in association with the British Council to promote cultural relations between the two countries. The centrepiece of the exhibition is the poignant image of the lonely Diana in one the most romantic settings in the world, the Taj Mahal. In remembrance of Diana, Glenn’s photographic work has so far been displayed in 11 cities across Japan and visited by over 198,000 people. ‘Diana - A Princess Remembered’ commemorates and celebrates the life of a true twentieth century icon. Using stunning, rarely seen images from Glenn’s private collection of prize-winning photographs, the exhibition captures the glamour and joy Princess Diana gave to millions and shows why she became universally loved as she travelled the globe. ‘I first met a young Lady Diana Spencer when rumours first began about a romance with Prince Charles’, explains Glenn about his special relationship with Diana and what inspired the collection. ‘We were only a year apart in age but from very different backgrounds. This exhibition celebrates her life and showcases her transformation from a shy Pimlico Nanny to the global icon she became. Many of the photographs are informal, some fun, but all demonstrate the best of what Diana represented as a great humanitarian and British ambassador. Her sparkly personality shines through in every picture and I feel very proud to be able to pay my own personal tribute to her.’ Glenn has combined his considerable technical expertise and artistic skills in creating this series of photographs revealing Diana’s most special moments in the public eye. Presidents, Emperors, Kings, Tribal and Religious leaders were all taken by the impact she had on so many people and the affection they held for her in return. The exhibition tour also raises funds for one of Diana's charitable causes, 'Landmine Action'. Plans are now under way to stage further exhibitions later this year in Japan and also India.
Glenn is based in Godalming where, in addition to his reportage photography work, he specialises in bespoke Home Portraits, School Proms, Clubs, Theatre and Drama Groups as well as Weddings and Events.
