Mist Through the Caledonian Forest | www.lesleywilliamson.com

Glen Affric is home to one of the largest areas of Caledonian Pine Forest still left in the Highlands of Scotland. I woke up to a very misty morning and ventured into the glen for sunrise. After spending some time photographing Loch Affric, I turned my attention to the forest where there was still some mist swirling across the tree tops before the light got too harsh.

The weather's been a bit miserable here in Glasgow over the last couple of days so I thought you might all enjoy a nice Autumn sunrise. I was up in Glen Affric about a month ago and the conditions were perfect for photography, lots of mist and weather systems moving through. This was taken from the wee viewpoint at Am Meallan and we had the place all to ourselves.  Hope you like it!  Thanks for all the recent views and +1s, much appreciated.  You can see more at www.lesleywilliamson.com.  Have a great weekend all!

Alpen Glow on Beinn Alligin and Liathach | www.lesleywilliamson.com

The Torridon mountains are a paradise for hillwalkers and photographers. The drive around the top of the Applecross Peninsula to Shieldaig and then Torridon is one of my favourites. It had been a sparkling day jumping in and out of the car to enjoy the view and we arrived in Torridon late afternoon. I hadn't got much hope for a good sunset as there was no cloud so after a shower, we set off from our B&B in search of somewhere to grab dinner. The temperature had really dropped and lots of mist had started to form in Abhainn Coire Mhic Nobuil and across Upper Loch Torridon. We stopped beside the road and just as the sun was about to drop behind the mountains, it created a beautiful alpen glow across the tops of Beinn Alligin, Beinn Dearg and Liathach.

Autumn Haze Loch Affric | www.lesleywilliamson.com

Glen Affric is known for being the most beautiful glen in Scotland and Autumn is the best time to see it.  I drove up through the glen late afternoon with the sunshine hitting pockets of mist and creating a warm hazy glow through the trees.  The viewpoint at Am Meallan was deserted and the perfect spot to catch the last rays of light across Loch Affric.

The upper reaches of Glen Affric - above the magnificent pines of the lower glen - looking moody but magnificent yesterday. The new Affric-Kintail Way threads through here, passing lonely Camban Bothy en route to crossing the watershed before the descent to Morvich and the west coast.
