First Security, Inc. is a Kentucky corporation, which serves as the holding company for First Security Bank of Owensboro, Inc. a Kentucky banking corporation. First Security Bank opened for business on August 22, 1997. The Company currently has approximately $430 million in assets and 11 office locations.

The bank currently serves customers in four primary markets which include Owensboro, Lexington, Bowling Green and Franklin, KY as well as Evansville, IN. The cities of Owensboro and Bowling Green are essentially tied in population for the third largest in Kentucky, Lexington is the second largest city, and Evansville is the third largest city in Indiana.

Consistent with the approach today, the original founders envisioned a community bank that provided the very best in customer service while offering essentially the same products and services more commonly found in much larger financial institutions. With this goal in mind, First Security Bank has grown to be the 33rd largest bank headquartered in Kentucky in just 13 short years.

In early 2007, M. Lynn Cooper, President and CEO of the bank and holding company was hired to provide leadership for the bank's new expansion strategy. The board of directors chose to hire a seasoned banker with both community bank and large bank experience, along with experience growing banks profitably.

In the fall of 2007, a merger with Warrick Loan and Savings Association was announced, a small bank in Southwestern Indiana. Subsequently in June of 2008 the bank opened a new full service office in Evansville, Indiana. The Evansville location grew to approximately $37 million in deposits and loans and was profitable in less than 12 months after opening. By the end of 2011, the Evansville office had assets approximating $70 million.

In early 2010 the bank agreed to purchase five branches in the Bowling Green and Franklin, KY markets from Integra Bank. This transaction was closed in late July and added around $115 million in deposits and loans to the bank's balance sheet.

In 2010, the bank and holding company raised capital in excess of $13 million dollars, with no institutional support, and primarily from the communities served by the bank. Additionally, around mid-year 2010, the bank announced purchasing an existing office building in downtown Owensboro that contained twice the space currently used by the bank. This building, located at 313 Frederica St. in Owensboro, was opened in July of 2012.

Management believes that a locally managed bank can respond to customers more quickly and with a better understanding of local needs than a bank whose decision makers are located out-of-area. The bank differentiates itself from larger competitors with its focus on relationship banking, personalized service, direct customer contact, and the ability to make credit and other business decisions locally. The company also depends on its reputation as a community bank in the banking markets served by its involvement in the community, the experience of the management team and the quality of its employees.

It is management's intent to continue to grow in existing banking markets and to expand into new markets when appropriate opportunities arise.

This bank, is the HARDEST to get a hold of. The loan department, is hardly ever reachable, and hardly ever returns calls. The rest of the bank when I finally get through to someone is pretty nice.

I would recommend ONLY using this bank for their high interest account, which is currently 2.5% interest. Other than this, they are not accommodating at all. They treat you like a little person and care VERY little for you personally. They are not a hometown feeling bank!
