Although #hearing loss occurs for most people as a by-product of ageing, it's not always easy to notice at first. People might begin turning up the TV volume, asking others to repeat themselves, or start finding it difficult to hear in #noisy environments, for example in a busy #cafe or #restaurant. The purpose of a #hearing test is to determine not only if there is a hearing loss, but how mild or severe it is. A thorough #hearingtest can also help define the type of hearing loss (i.e., conductive, sensorineural or mixed) and whether it will respond best to #medical treatment i.e., a Cochlear implant or #hearingaids.

Ear & Hearing Australia offers a comprehensive range of hearing tests for adults and children over 5 years of age. Our dedicated team of qualified #audiologists has amassed years of experience, guaranteeing a professional, friendly and dependable service you can trust. SAFE EFFECTIVE EAR WAX REMOVAL

Ear wax can easily become impacted in the #ear canal causing #pain, loss of #hearing, balance upset, and #hearingaid feedback.

The most common cause of #earwax blockage is attempted at-home removal. If you try to remove ear wax incorrectly – using cotton swabs, bobby pins, car keys, pens, or other sharp objects – you may scratch the skin and your ears will produce more ear wax to prevent irritation and infection. Even if you don’t scratch the skin, you may push the wax further into the ear canal, preventing your ears’ self-cleaning mechanism from working, thereby creating a blockage.

Find out how to #clean your ears safely and effectively (no referral required) here: https://www.ear-hearing.com.au/ear-wax-removal/

Middle ear infections are the most common cause of temporary #hearing problems in babies and young children. About 85% of #children will experience at least one episode by the time they start school and even more worrying is that chronic, repeated infections can result in stretches of mild hearing loss during a critical #learning period for #speech and #language, which can have long-term #developmental effects.

If you suspect your child is suffering from a middle ear infection it’s important to seek medical attention quickly. If treated properly, the #infection will clear and hearing will improve. Read more in our latest blog: https://www.ear-hearing.com.au/middle-ear-infections/

The relatively new but well documented link between hearing health and cardiovascular health is strong, leading many professionals to believe that hearing loss may be one of the earliest indicators of heart disease.

In light of this, medical professionals now recommend annual hearing evaluations for people aged 40 and older as part of their annual routine medical screenings. Individuals with risk factors for developing heart disease and those who have already been diagnosed should be especially vigilant about hearing health.

HEARING LOSS & DEMENTIA: Although the reason for the link between hearing loss and dementia is not conclusive, studies suggest that the strain of decoding sounds over time may overwhelm the brains of people with hearing loss, leaving them more vulnerable to dementia.

They also suggest that hearing loss could lead to dementia by making individuals more socially isolated—a known risk factor for dementia and other cognitive disorders.

Find out what the 10 warning signs are for dementia and what people with hearing loss can do by reading our latest blog: http://bit.ly/2E9O093
