See our Dr. Brad Spellberg, an infectious disease expert, in FRONTLINE’s documentary on the rise of deadly drug-resistant bacteria that aired last night on PBS.

“Fifty years from today, the cholesterol drugs we have now will work just as well as they work today. The cancer drugs we have now will work just as well as they do today,” Dr. Spellberg said. “Antibiotics are the only class of drugs that the more we use, the more rapidly we lose. When you use it, it becomes less effective for me, and vice versa.”
