Favorite Quilts from AQS Grand Rapids 2015
The award winning quilts are shared by the  American Quilt Society, but there are many other wonderful quilts at their shows. We especially enjoyed the DeVos Center as a venue for quilts. We could get quite close and far away, which enables the viewer to se...

Neil Gaiman might just be the most beloved fantasy author out there. He writes weird, twisted, exhilarating tales about hidden realities and the bizarre, fanciful creatures that live in them. His works, like Sandman, Fragile Things and American Gods, are pure escapism and a blast to read.

The Stories We Tell, The Stories We Need To Know

Starting a new job, and with a month between paychecks, I decided to try a less expensive salon. It was not worth the savings. The stylist was on a cigarette break and her work station still had hair all around it. She shook off the cape from the previous customer and put it on me. I showed her the photo of the cut I always ask for, and said I wanted it long on top as in the pic. The stylist did what she wanted to. When I asked he about cutting it short, she said she was just 'thinning' it so it would not be heavy, as she hates lots of hair on her neck. The outcome was nothing like my usual cut, way shorter than I ever wear my hair, and with no real style to it. It looks like a man's cut.

We took our son's truck in for repair when it was having trouble starting. The mechanic at Smith & Doster said it needed a new starter. Then we were told the battery was running low and we approved installing a new battery. The mechanic was friendly and the service was quick. Our son drove several hours to where he is living, and the next day the truck would not start. He took it to the closest repair shop and was told the starter was installed incorrectly, and he had to pay for another starter installation. When I told Smith & Doster about this, we were told that the starter was under warranty and the repair should have been free. We had not been told that the starter was under NAPA warranty, and the paper work did not identify the starter as NAPA or that there was a warranty. We were told that the second auto repair shop 'should have known' that the starter was under NAPA warranty. We were told to take the issue up at corporate level at NAPA, there is nothing they can do. The worst part is we were told that Smith & Doster has had several NAPA starters go bad right away, which they replaced under the warranty. IF THEY KNOW that these starters have problems, WHY DID THEY NOT TELL US ABOUT THE WARRANTY? If the mechanic failed to do this, why does the owner not admit their mistake and at least apologize if not offer compensation?

The salon is very nice, with friendly staff and clean environment. My sylist has helped me with hair color decisions and I was very pleased with it. The cost of a basic cut and style is very reasonable.

We are very pleased with everything about our experience. Paul had great ideas and worked with our budget. The workers were considerate and friendly. The work was done quickly and professionally. We have an amazing 21st c basement family room now. We will call them again for the next project.
