it looks like this place is packed with nyc creme of la creme kind of folks.....so called culinary expert.. growing up on meatball hero sandwiches..and some kind of italian food that only exist in this country... what a disgrace.....

Great italian food, loved their fettucini! So delicious. I came with good company, and the service was good, so it was a good time.

Rao's is an incredibly small, timelessly decorated, classic Italian joint. The service was spot on, and we were treated like family even though we were clearly a table of first-time outsiders. On that note, this place is like a big family dinner party--people talking table to table, shaking hands, giving hugs, doing sing-a-longs on the jukebox. The level of this inter-patron interaction coupled with some of the very vibrant personalities makes for a very surreal experience. It's almost as if you were invited to one of those mystery dinner theaters filled with caricatures of people--we kept waiting for the lights to cut out, fake gunfire to ring out, and to suddenly find one of the actors whacked. The food, however, is not quite as memorable as the environment. They serve the whole suite of classic Italian dishes, and while nothing was wrong with what we had, it also was not out of this world. Given the difficulty of getting in, one would assume the food must be out of the world, but in fact, this difficulty is all about the experience.

Lets be Honest here , Its a place you go for status! The food is Common Italian food of average quality. You rub shoulders with celebs and well known folks but the food is just average unless you never had a home cooked Italian meal in your life. A good friend of mine owns a table and brought me with him at least 8 times in the past 2 years while the experience is great the food is not.

Family style Italian with celebrities at the next table. The reviews don't matter since you can't get a table here unless you are already known to the owners.
