Hey guys, here's my new project for HaD Prize 2015 addressing pollution and environmental air quality monitoring . You can vote by pressing the "Give a Skull" button!
The portable environmental monitor addresses pollution, the kind that we are unable to see but directly affects our health and causes life threatening diseases such as cancer. Airborne toxic chemicals, radioactive dust and radioactive radon are correlated with cases of pulmonary cancer. Since our biological senses can do little to warn us of such possible dangers, we plan to design the Portable environmental monitor as a first line detection and...

@hackaday prize 2015 starts tomorrow. Wondering what's the best idea I should participate with, out of the many appealing possibilities. Ideally, it should be the type of technology that people can benefit from, making a better future for us all.
This is about doing, not about about waiting for something to happen. The Hackaday Prize will send one person into space for building the next evolution of hardware.

It's a bit weird to imagine everything with an IP address. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this idea.

The open source uRADMonitor-KIT1 is intended for those interested in building their own radiation devices to contribute to the uRADMonitor network. http://www.uradmonitor.com/uradmonitor-kit1-an-open-source-diy-dosimeter/ #uradmonitor

I finally got a chance to update the firmware in my UradMonitor network Geiger counter.  One of the feature updates was the implementation of an http server with a page reporting current rad levels and temperature.  Another user of the device posted some code which would snarf said data, and output a chart.  It didn't quite work.  Took a little less than an hour to have the well formatted graph below, which essentially provides 8 times the reporting resolution:  8 cpm averages per hour instead of hourly averages.  Well done on this improvement, +Radu Motisan .

If a tube failure is suspected for a particular uRADMonitor unit, checking the Geiger tube might be necessary. Here's how: http://www.uradmonitor.com/checking-the-geiger-tube/ #uradmonitor
A quick way of checking the Geiger tube inside uRADMonitor units, in case failure is suspected or the number of counts per minute is zero.
