Some ppl are having issues with casting with android N, i experienced this last night. I usually use ES file explorer and its chromecast addon but videos would not load and if they did they would stutter and quit after 5 secs. So i went old school and played the video in Google photos then pressed the chromecast button and it worked for 2 mins till the screen turned off. i guess G photos doesnt know how to stay on well casting in N, so i installed a app called Wakey and it made my N9 screen stay on and i was able to watch my video :D
You can do somewhat the same thing without the app by going into settings and select screen always on while charging, or you could goto display settings and choose a longer time to leave the screen on, HOWEVER if you're using an app that has the Cast icon on the app header, like YouTube for instance, you can Cast YouTube and totally back out of the app on device and turn the screen off or do something else separate like check email.
I downloaded the Android N OTA but it didn't install cause of low battery and then my N9 died so I charged it then turned it on and the OTA was gone. I unenrolled then enrolled again but I'm not getting any update notification how long does it take?
So this is not N related but for past month when i use play.google.com and press the install button no prompt opens to select a device and send the download to a device. but i know google looks here so thought id post.. anyone else experience this
