Ok! After I purchased a Groupon, I went to Double Wide Grill on a Saturday morning after church at 11 AM. I invited my father and son along with me and thought I'd treat them. We get there, and had to wait about 15 minutes before the hostess greeted us. Once we were finally greeted by the hostess I realized she was the only hostess working this entire restaurant which was pretty ridiculous or so I thought because with prior experiences (from high school through 7 yrs of college I was hostess and a waiter) there should have been two or more hostesses working this restaurant considering how incredibly busy Double Wide Grill was during a basketball game. With this being said, many people had reservations on a Saturday which I thought was kind of stupid bc who does that anymore, especially on the weekends when most food establishments are always the busiest. So then again, we had to wait 45 mins to finally be seated but to be places in the bar with a child in tow. Then all of a sudden drunk and unruly bar patrons were cussing and swearing at the game on the TV and there were a bunch of children around. Which is why I told the hostess in the first place I'd rather not be sat in the bar area but after waiting nearly close to an hour we just accepted. Thirdly, the food was good and met to it's potential a long with a decent waitress who made our experience a little more pleasant even though they brought one of our orders wrong which was when my son wanted BBQ wings but then brought back Buffalo Wings then we had to wait a good few to let someone know we received the wrong order. Overall, the food was good, but service was terrible along with the fact the building reeked of gasoline (as the place used to be a gas station from what I remember). Would I recommend this place? Not really because it is not the family environment for sure, even for brunch/lunch bc this place is not really kid friendly. Nonetheless, it is the type of place if you don't have family with kids and enjoy hanging out with snotty kidless people drinking their Bloody Mary's and mimosas who along with the men enjoy belligerently screaming incoherent profanities at the screen over college basketball games ok a weekend mornong.

Service not bad. Overall, food was not good. Cornbread was awful - sickeningly sweet. It was like having a piece of yellow birthday cake with my vegetarian chili. Cool decor, but food could be A LOT better.

We went to the Double Wide Grill for my daughter's birthday. We took a group of eight to have dinner around 5pm on a Friday night. We were seated immediately and were greeted by all of the staff at one point. We liked the theme of the restaurant and found it to be interesting and entertaining. All of their drinks are made by the restaurant and met my wife's seal of approval. As a lifelong enjoyer of Diet Coke, it was good that even without the brand, she could enjoy her beverage. I especially enjoyed the root beer, which was fabulous. Our server was phenomenal and treated us like we were the only table in the whole restaurant. We had constant care (but we were not overwatched), and because of that, it seemed like we only had to think about something we wanted and she was there--ready to serve. All of the food was fantastic. The onion rings were the best I've had and the sauce was delicious. But my favorite part of the evening was the ribs. The ribs came to the table, almost everyone had ordered them, and I realized after one bite that it was heaven on a plate. I'm not even kidding. I would come back a thousand times just for these ribs. The ribs were caramelized on the outside, crunchy and seasoned to perfection. They didn't need any extra sauce. They were full of meat and they were so soft that they fell right off of the bone. The flavor was incredible. I keep asking my family when they would like to go back. I have been eating ribs for over 30 years and have done so in hundreds of places all over the country. But never have I had such delicious ribs. I have no idea why people are giving this place poor ranking. Any restaurant on a weekend is going to be packed with people. Sometimes the key to results is patience. Trust me, Double Wide, I'll be back. Have the grill ready, because I already know what I'm getting! Thank you for your wonderful service that day, for making my daughter's birthday special, and for so much food that I had lunch for the next day. You guys were wonderful.

As a vegetarian, I usually avoid restaurants with 'grill" in the name. But Double Wide really blew me away with an entire page of vegetarian options! I can keep going back and never get the same thing twice! Their seitan buffalo wings are a must-have. They also have an excellent selection of beers on tap. Any time I am in Pittsburgh I make sure I come back here. Better in the summer when you can sit outside for great ambiance, but still enjoyable indoors as well.

This place loses two stars purely based on service. I've had multiple times where I had to wait an hour or more for food. With that said the food is pretty good and it is it's one of the few places that has outdoor seating in the south side.

Delicious food. The Double Wide Grill offers some of the best ribs I've ever tasted, a great array of beers, and one of the best vegan menus I've ever seen. One caveat is that the restaurant can get noisy if you go late in the week for dinner, but the same applies to nearly every restaurant in the South Side.
