Just finishing up a new painting, I think I'll call it Green Dreams. Looks sort of like a crazy plant of some sort to me. I was contacted by Adsum House in Halifax, a charity for women. So it's going to be in the Argyle Fine Art Mystery Art show at the end of March.

Don't forget to check out my new website! http://teresayoungartist.ca !

Working on a commission! (Yay!)
I decided to document the progress of this for a change.
A Russian immigrant to Canada wants me to paint him and his wife as a sailor and mermaid in the moonlight. (Romantic right? I think I get why she's with this dude;-))

I started with sketches to determine the most pleasing poses, and then drew out a pencil design to work from initially. The major background colours went in next (mostly violets) and then the skin and clothing/fish suit colours, and lastly the dark, dark overlay that gives it the night depth. I've started on the hair, bodies and moon itself next. the skin will come after that and I'll do the faces last in case you're wondering why the blank faces. For eighty percent of the painting, it will seem like I'm ignoring the faces. Unfortunately, once I put in the faces, the focal point of the painting shifts, so I prefer to do it last...
With the finishing touches, the shine of the moonlight goes on last, so it will look a bit flat until that happens...
