John B. Fisher has summed it up so wisely!
Liberty's Promise

We all know the stanzas:

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me …

Yet, in all the shooting and vile speech, we forget to remember that our forefathers once stood in her place, hoping for the chance to live and love free.

Let us rejoice, as she rejoices, in the chance to become part of the fabric of our American dream.

I hope you enjoy the painting and find that spark of joy within her face. That's what drew me to paint this portrait. Let's remember to celebrate with one another. Let's celebrate this wonderful experiment of ours. Let's celebrate the diversity that is our strength, not our weakness.

Would love for the whole world to see this fantastic water color by Beni Gassenbauer! So open and bright and peaceful. I can almost smell the water and feel the sunshine and experience walking along the wet sand. Very appealing and a bit different style for this wonderful artist!

Look at this awesome poinsettia painting by John B. Fisher!!
He's been out of sight for awhile. We have missed seeing his work....just wanted to share this one more widely!
He's Baaaaaaaccckkk!!

And here you thought you were rid of me! Bwhaa HaHaHaaa!!

Okay, so I'm being silly. But then what's new? I've been silent for quite a while. But I've continued to paint. I just didn't have any exceptional pieces that I wanted to share.

Well, I thought about that and realized that no artist always produces perfect pieces. And perhaps it's best to show the struggle in progress. After all, it takes lots of failures to attain success.

So, over the next few days, I'll share some of the work I've done some last August. Not too many.

Today I share a painting of a poinsettia. Fortunately my art teacher, Rocky Alexander, understands that I love pen and ink with watercolor. In fact, once I finished penciling the outline, she asked me (and insisted) that I ink in the lines. How cool is that? She knows I love that style and encourages it.

So, I decided to try for more of an illustration than a straight painting. What's the difference? Well, most illustrations tend to use pen and ink to control the image and uses flatter color than paintings. Sort of .. But it was a fun project. I hope you also enjoy.
