Despite being dubbed a “pickup” in official Mercedes media statements drafted in Germany, the Australian operation says it will market the new X-Class as a “ute” when it arrives here in 2018.
A ute - an abbreviation for "utility" or "coupé utility" - is a term used originally in Australia and New Zealand to describe usually two-wheel-drive, traditionally passenger vehicles with a cargo tray in the rear integrated with the passenger body; as opposed to a pickup whose cargo tray is not integrated with the passenger body.
The X-Class is a true Mercedes, showing off an all-new exterior design and lavish interior fit outs.
Mercedes-Benz will offer a potent 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine in its flagship X-Class, which could bang out up to 195kW, potentially crowning it the most powerful ute in Australia.

Mercedes-Benz unveiled four new engines, including a gasoline-powered 3.0-liter inline-six, a diesel variant of the 3.0-liter inline-six, a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, and a twin-turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. The gas-powered inline-six and the new V8 will power the 2017 S-Class when it gets its facelift, while the automaker is still figuring out where to place the other motors.

A car which inspires that longing that emerges when one occasionally feels bulldozed by the speed of the present day. In a Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9.
8 cylinders with a displacement 6.9 liters; it is a cathedral of steel under the hood, able to deliver virtually any power requirement on demand. To put it in figures – 550 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm!

1980 Mercedes Benz 500 SL Rally - somewhere in the Californian desert.
The Mercedes-Benz Museum brings the rally variant R107 based on the Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Roadster to the Californian desert and impressively demonstrates the dynamic of the vehicle. The R107 was intended as the successor to the longer-wheelbase SLC coupés that Mercedes-Benz campaigned in international rallying in the late 1970s

All Mercedes-Benz G-Class models will in future offer up to 16 percent more power and lower fuel consumption. The range includes the G 500 with a new, powerful 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine. All engines are compliant with the latest Euro 6 emissions standard.
The big news in Mercedes' G-Class freshener is the new direct-injected V8 biturbo under the hood of the G 500 (sold as the G550 in the US). The V8 is derived from the V8s in the Mercedes-AMG GT and AMG C 63 and tuned to 416 hp (310 kW) and 450 lb-ft (610 Nm) of torque. Output is up from the 382 hp and 391 lb-ft developed by the outgoing 5.5-liter V8.
The rest of the members of the G-Class lineup carry their current engines over but get modest power increases. The AMG G 65's 6.0-liter V12 biturbo now pumps out 621 hp (563 kW), up from 603 hp, and the same 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque. The AMG G 63's 5.5-liter V8 biturbo puts out 563 hp (420 kW), up from 536 hp, and 560 lb-ft (760 Nm). The 350 d puts out 241 hp (180 kW), up from 208 hp, and also gets a torque increase to 442 lb-ft (600 Nm), from 398 lb-ft.
