easyJet’s Latest Cabin Baggage Allowance 19/8/15
All passengers

ONE cabin bag
Maximum size of 56 x 45 x 25cm including handles and wheels.
easyJet Plus, FLEXI fare, Upfront and Extra Legroom customers

One cabin bag as above
Plus ONE additional small under seat bag (For example a handbag or laptop)
Maximum size of 45 x 36 x 20cm which will need to be placed under the seat in front.

Our boarding priority is that easyJet Plus customers will board first followed by passengers who need assistance, then families and finally all other passengers. So locker space will be available for those passengers with medical needs for their flight for items such as wheelchair parts or medicines (in line with our safety standards).

Is there a weight restriction on cabin baggage?

There is no weight restriction for cabin baggage. As long as you are able to place the bag into the overhead locker and get it out again without assistance then the bag will be accepted into the cabin

Will my cabin bag be checked before I board?

Yes, your cabin bag will be checked for its size with a baggage gauge (the orange bag size baskets or cages) at the Bag Drop desk and at the boarding gate

What happens if my cabin bag is too big?

If your cabin bag is larger than the maximum cabin bag size (56 x 45 x 25cm including handles and wheels) the Bag Drop desk will ask you to check the bag into the aircraft hold and a charge of £30.00 will apply. If you go directly to the boarding gate and your cabin bag is larger than the maximum cabin bag size, your item will be checked into the aircraft hold and a charge of £45.00 will apply.

What happens if cabin storage is full? Will I have to put my bag in the hold?

We only have a limited amount of cabin space on the aircraft so on busy flights it’s not always possible to fit everyone's cab bags on board the aircraft.

Overhead locker space is allocated on a first come first served basis and once the overhead lockers are full all remaining customers will be asked to put their cabin bags in the hold free of charge as long as their cabin bag does not exceed the maximum cabin bag size of 56 x 45 x 25cm.

Can I take extra cabin baggage when I’m flying with my infant?

If you’re travelling with an infant (under 2 years of age) you can bring an additional small baby changing bag on board the aircraft. This bag can be no larger than 45x36x20cm and must be placed under the seat in front of you.  Under seat bags are limited to a maximum of one bag per seat. If you’re an easyJet Plus, Upfront/Extra Legroom customer or have purchased a Flexi fare you will already have an additional under seat allowance and are therefore unable to bring a second under seat bag on board the aircraft.

If, however, you have booked a separate seat for your infant, they will qualify for one piece of cabin baggage within the normal baggage size restrictions, just like grown-ups.

Please note passengers must be able to place their hand baggage in the overhead bins unaided.
The Upper Class hand baggage allowance also applies to children age 2+.
Children and infants

Please note passengers must be able to place their hand baggage in the overhead bins unaided.
Children age 2+ travelling in the Upper Class cabin are entitled to Upper Class baggage allowance.
Additional items you can bring with you
To help with baggage conundrums, we’ve compiled the following list to clarify the bits and bobs you can take onboard in addition to the allowances above:
• Your handbag, pocketbook or purse, as you would normally use it (in other words, not just being used to contain items that would otherwise be regarded as baggage).
• Your overcoat or wrap.
• Your umbrella or walking stick (these cannot be pointed or sharp).
• A small camera and/or pair of binoculars.
• A reasonable amount of reading matter for the flight.
• An infant’s food (for consumption on the flight).
• A small amount of duty free goods.
• Headphones for onboard use (they’ll need the standard 3.5mm jack).
If you bring large electrical items with you (such as laptops), please remember that you’ll need to remove them from your bag for security screening. You’ll be asked to place them in a tray so they can be clearly scanned.

Aer Lingus Checked Baggage Policy (within Europe)
Travelling on flights within Europe

From December 2013, we have a new checked baggage policy for flights within in Europe.
As baggage needs vary depending on your destination and duration of travel, we offer you even more choice and flexibility with four baggage options to choose from online. By adding your bag online, you will save at least 50% on the price of airport baggage charges, so enjoy greater savings by pre-booking your bags in advance.

Note: Within Europe if you booked bags before 12th December, please download baggage fees and info here (pdf).

For those occasions when you wish to carry just the essentials, our small bag allows you to carry one bag weighing up to 15kg.
Aer Lingus passengers most popular option, allowing you to carry a bag weighing up to a maximum of 20kg.
When you require a bit more weight, this option allows you to carry one bag weighing up to 25kg.
Our 40kg option allows you to carry 2 bags with a combined total weight of 40kg. Perfect when going on a longer holiday. Remember no individual piece can weigh more than 32kg.
Need an extra bag?
You will have the flexibility to add a maximum of 3 pieces within your chosen weight allowance.

General Rules
Baggage allowance is per passenger, per direction.
Baggage Fees apply for all Economy Low fares.
PLUS/FLEX fare customers, enjoy the benefit of having one 20kg bag included in their fare.

A maximum of 3 bags per passenger can be booked online up to 2 hours before departure.

Excess weight is charged per kilo per flight in excess of the allowance at the airport.
Pooling or sharing of baggage allowance is permitted when with a travel partner within the same booking and when checking in together.
Infant baggage allowance is ONE collapsible buggy/stroller or travel seat only, free of charge.
Sports Equipment will be carried at the applicable rate.
If you booked through a travel agent, please contact them directly in relation to your baggage allowance.
