“Green” or natural burial is an eco-friendly way of caring for the dead with minimal environmental impact, utilizing biodegradable materials such as wooden caskets or shrouds -- with no metals, no cement vaults and no embalming chemicals.

Woodlawn Cemetery, Mausoleum & Mortuary is the second cemetery in the Los Angeles area and the only city-owned and operated cemetery & mortuary in the United States to offer this service. In October 2015, Woodlawn was certified as a Hybrid Cemetery by the Green Burial Council, which leads the way in the green burial movement.

If you haven’t guessed by the name, the California company wants to create a new kind of cemetery, so you can help save the earth even after you’ve left it. http://ow.ly/UFfc307xOr8
