Great hike in New Hampshire, USA. We camp at Calumet, swimming in Lake Ossipee. Awoke a 4am with plenty of light, drove north and cooked egg sandwiches in Crawford notch. Got a late start and climbed Ammonusuc ravine to Lake of the Clouds. But... it was perfectly timed because we arrived just before a torrential downpour. About 100 people arrived after us drenched to the bone.

Fortunately, the storm passed over and left us safe for a traverse of Crawford Path  alpine meadows. Steve stays on low path while I run over Monroe, and later drop my pack to run up/down the summit of Eisenhower. We had a good descent on Edmunds Path before getting soaked for the last 30 minutes. (Better there than up at altitude.) 9.5 hours on the trail.

The dog is so tired that she falls asleep in the car (never has happened in 5 years). Her inner eyelids roll over her eyes. We stop and I buy a meatball sandwich. She doesn't stay awake while I eat (never has happened either). I put two pieces of bread with tomato sauce in front of her nose, and then video tape this historic event. It takes 3 minutes before she wakes up, wolfs the food, and goes back to sleep

Recommended documentary "La Danse: The Paris Opera Ballet"

The style is excellent. Quiet observation, with no interviews, questions, or answers. The architecture and the building are equally important (and beautifully captured) as are the dancers, choreographers, directors, food servers, maintenance workers, seamstresses, and mail sorters.

Are you kidding me? I'm in love with this dog. Look at his straight back. Notice how un-distracted he is. Watch him climb onto the bike and signal readiness to the rider!

Excellent documentary on many levels. Footage, soundtrack, narration, and the story itself. I've never experienced such a prescient ambiance in a film. Worth watching a second time with the directors' commentary.

Excellent description of "dominance," how the meaning is often misconstrued, what is wrong with "alpha" male theories, and why training theories espoused by Caesar Milan can be dangerous.
